Career[edit]
Social media[edit]
López created her Instagram account @glorificus, which is now her personal account, where she started posting about affordable skincare products in Argentina. When she gained more followers, the influencer created another instagram account under the handle @soydadatina, her new nickname given to her by her fans. López primarily focuses on beauty and skincare reviews, tips and tutorials. She is also present in Twitter, Twitch, Youtube and TikTok. On her YouTube channel, she uploads a video per week in which she reviews products, teaches about skincare. Every Thursday at 8pm, she chats with her followers and together they analyse the skincare routine of famous celebrities such as Ricky Martin, Rihanna, Kendall Jenner, among others. Furthermore, she also has a podcast together with @amadorablog, a cosmetologist called “#Cosmeleaks”.
ACF by Dadatina[edit]
In August 2020, she launched a cosmetic line in partnership with ACF, a national brand, with the aim to create products for most skin types. All of her products are clinically and dermatologically tested, ANMAT approved, cruelty free, vegan, fragrance free and allergen free. To date, she has sold 170.000 items of the first product she launched, a serum called “Balance”.
Pieles Reales (book)[edit]
In march 2020, she released her book called “#Pieles Reales”, which is a guide of the basics of skincare and it provides information for taking care of one’s skin according to skin type, age and skin conditions. Some of the best dermatologists in the country collaborated with this book. “#Pieles Reales” is available in all bookshops and digital.[4]
Influence[edit]
In the last few years, the skincare industry has grown exponentially thanks to “skinfluencers” mainly on Youtube in the United States. This has created a demand for information and skincare products in Argentina, and this is how Lopez gained an audience: she created content where she gave affordable skincare options from Argentina and she also taught her followers on certain components found in these products, so people knew how to recognize which products are suitable for each individual and their skin type. In an interview with the newspaper "Infobae"[5] she said: "I opened my account because I think everyone should have access to skin care and I think I have a didactic way of approaching it that people like." She helps small businesses grow by reviewing their products on social media and pharmacies, and various stores even have shelves filled with the products she recommends and her own.
Her followers call themselves soldadas (soldiers), and, according to her webpage, 98% of them are women.
Activism[edit]
López uses her platform to share her message not only about cosmetology, but also on responsible consumption and feminism. Her products are cruelty free, vegan and reciclable. She adheres to the feminist movement “Ni Una Menos” and advocates for legal abortion in Argentina.
She has created her own movement called “Pieles Reales”, where she encourages her followers to show their skin with imperfections and no filters. This movement started with López showing pictures of celebrities with and without filters and photoshop. Her aim was to do away with unrealistic expectations for the skin, and to demonstrate how these expectations stem from tampered images on social media.[6]
Covid-19 Pandemic[edit]
Quarantine during the Covid-19 Pandemic in the year 2020 led to many individuals seeking help online on skincare. López was creating content where she showed affordable skincare options and taught her followers on how to identify your skin type and to create your own skincare routine. As a result, her following grew exponentially.
López was also benefited by social distancing out of social media: she spent the year developing skincare products, writing her book "Pieles Reales", investigating and studying on cosmetology, dermatology and skincare components.[7]
Personal life[edit]
In 2020, López got engaged to Alejo Falvo (Dadatino). She lives with him and they own two cats: Archer and Lana.[8] Moreover, she has expressed her deep interest in the Broadway musical “Hamilton” and the Harry Potter Saga. Script error: No such module "AfC submission catcheck".
