Daniela Luzi Tudor (tudɘr; born October 23, 1986) is an American businesswoman and serial entrepreneur [1] [2] [3]. She is the CEO and co-founder of WEconnect [4], an award-winning [5][6][7] addiction recovery healthcare technology company with a platform designed to prevent relapse from drug and alcohol addiction.

Early Life[edit]

Tudor was born in Ploiesti, Romania Ploiești. Her early years included significant travel and exposure to Europe - she moved 17 times before the age of 11 and lived in 5 different European countries before relocating with her parents to Seattle, WA[8]. In High School, Tudor attended State Championships for Tennis and won Miss Seattle Teen USA in 2003 and Miss Greater Seattle in 2004. She attended the University of Washington from 2003-2008, focusing on Political Science and Comparative Religion, and while there contributed to the development of Third Culture Kids, an online community providing connection for adults and children who have grown up in countries other than those reflected on their native passport.

Career[edit]

While working as an Account Manager at Microsoft, Tudor developed an interest in software development and entrepreneurship. In 2012 she relocated to Los Angeles, CA, and after working as a Senior Technical Recruiter she founded Sound Strokes Art, an ecommerce platform which creates graphic art by analyzing audio wavelengths.

After pitching her idea for a web-based application designed to assist addiction recovery in a bathroom to current business partner Jen Mallory at Startup Weekend in Seattle in 2014, the two won 3rd place in the competition for a wristband which tracks a user’s activities and aids in recovery accountability [9]. In November 2014, Tudor won Richard Branson’s Extreme Tech Challenge on Necker Island. Pursuing her success in technology and entrepreneurship, Tudor co-founded Pala-Linq Social Purpose Corporation, which was a finalist at the 2015 Social Venture Partners Fast Pitch competition [10].

In 2016 Tudor teamed with Jen Mallory and former Professional Tennis Player Murphy Jenson to create the WEconnect Recovery App, winning Seattle TechCrunch Meet Up in June 2016 and being selected as the Wildcard startup at TechCrunch San Francisco later that year [11].

She has served on the board of directors for Urban ArtWorks from 2013-2015 and is a current member of Women in Technology, a non-profit organization focused on supporting women in STEM Science, technology, engineering, and mathematics.

Personal Life[edit]

After moving to Huntington Beach, CA and later Los Angeles, Tudor found herself increasingly using drugs and alcohol. Her best friend and former Business Partner Adrienne Trewolla confronted Tudor about her drug and alcohol use, and Tudor has stated this was the first time she felt unconditional love from another person [12]. Tudor returned to Seattle, WA to spend time near family and reevaluate her goals in life. Her struggle with addiction continued however and a DUI arrest and overnight stay in jail convinced Tudor to seek professional help for recovery. It was during treatment that she initially thought to combine a technology application with recovery support, after learning of the high rate of relapse among those recovering from addiction.

After leaving recovery, Tudor began attending technology events and seeking a support for the creation of a digital application program to assist patients with accountability and connection. Tudor continued to develop recovery application models and in 2016 met former Tennis Professional Murphy Jensen, who was himself recovering from addiction and seeking a way to help others in recovery. Both Tudor and Jensen recognized the need for a system of increased accountability for patients, and after working to develop a web-based software application for addiction recovery, closed their first investor meeting in December 2015.

Tudor cites her father’s encouragement and her experience living throughout Europe as foundational to her entrepreneurial approach and travels extensively, attending leadership retreats around the world.
