Daria Davidova (born June 24, 1990, Moscow) is a Russian opera singer, soprano. She made her debut on the opera stage in 2014 at the Bolshoi Theatre of Russia.[1], being a fifth-year student of the Moscow State Conservatory named after Peter Tchaikovsky. From 2015 to 2017 - Daria was an opera soloist of the Stanislavski and Nemirovich-Danchenko Moscow Academic Music Theatre. Since 2018, she has been a leading soloist at the All-Russian State Television and Radio Company (VGTRK)[2]. Daria performs in Russia, Germany[3], France, Austria, Belgium, Netherlands,China, Japan, Poland, Denmark, Finland, Czech Republic, Italy, Cyprus, Greece, Portugal, USA, Lebanon, Slovenia and Tanzania[4].
Biography[edit]
Since the first years of the Moscow conservatory, Daria has performed at the leading musical stages in Moscow: the Bolshoi, Maly and Rakhmaninovsky halls of the Moscow Conservatory, Moscow International House of Music, Moscow Philharmonic, the Hall of Columns[5].
in 2004 she graduated from the Music School named after Frederick Chopin (piano class), in 2010 Daria graduated from, Academic Music College by Moscow State Tchaikovsky Concervatory[6] (vocal class of Honored Artist of Russia Valentina Shcherbinina[7]).
In 2012, the singer graduated from Moscow State Linguistic University named after Maurice Torez where she learnt English, French, Italian languages.
In 2015 she became an honored graduate from Moscow State Conservatory named after Peter Tchaikovsky (opera class of professor, people's artist of the USSR Makvala Kasrashvili).
From 2015 to 2017 she was a soloist of the Stanislavski and Nemirovich-Danchenko Moscow Academic Music Theatre.
She is a soloist of the Moscow[8], Perm[9] and Kirov Philharmonic Societies, the Concert and Theater Center "Ugra - Classic" (Khanty-Mansiysk)[10].
In 2013, in the Great Hall of the Moscow Conservatory Daria performed three opera parts of soprano in Benjamin Britten’s opera " The Death in Venice" (Russian premiere), conducted by Gennady Rozhdestvensky, with the participation of Ian Bostridge (tenor), Iestin Davies (counter-tenor), Peter Colman-Wright (baritone).
In 2014, Daria performed the role of Ariel in the opera by Alexander Aliabiev ¨The Tempest¨ (world premiere) based on the piece by W. Shakespeare at December evenings at the Pushkin State Museum of Fine Arts and the estate "Tsaritsyno"[11]. The performance gained the Moscow City Hall Prize.
In 2015, Daria performed for His Majesty Prince Hendrick of Denmark at the Royal Regatta in Cannes (France)[12].
In the Boshoi Theatre of Russia Daria worked with maestro Evelino Pido (Italy), director Robert Carsen (Canada) in "Rigoletto" by G.Verdi.The coproduction (Bolshoi Theatre, Opéra Bastille, Grand Théâtre de Genève, Festival of Aix-en-Provence, Théâtre Royale de la Monnaie (Belgique) and Opéra National du Rhin (Strasbourg)) met incredible success[13].
In Japan, she performed the part of soprano in S. Rachmaninoff's symphonic poem “The Bells” (Nagoya, conductor Rosen Gergov).
Daria performes with numerous orchestras and ensembles such as the State Symphony Orchestra “New Russia” under the direction of Yuri Bashmet, the State Wind Orchestra of Russia, the State Symphony Cinema Orchestra under the direction of Sergey Skrypka, the Academic Orchestra of Russian Folk Instruments named after Nicolai Nekrasov (RCSC in Prague, Belgrade, Bruxelles, Berlin, Warsaw, Antwerpen), XIII IMAGO festival in Slovenia (Ljubljana, Rybnitsa).
In 2016, in Sochi, Daria opened a serie of Continental Hockey League games by singing the National Anthem of Russian Federation.
She is a member of the jury at the All-Russian vocal competition "Moscow Nightingale", the competition named after M. Tariverdiev "The Moods."
In 2017 Daria took part in the production of Renata Litvinova’s play “The North Wind” at the Moscow Art Theatre named after Anton Chekhov (the role of the opera singer).
Daria regularly performs solo soprano in W. A. Mozart’s Requiem with the Instrumental Chapel Chamber Orchestra of the Moscow Regional Philharmonic Society and the A. Kozhevnikov State Academic Moscow Regional Choir.[14]
In October 2018, Daria played the role of Elena Popova in the opera “The Bear” by William Walton (staged by Vasily Barkhatov), the theatres Pattihio and Strovolos (Cyprus), conductor Yannis Hadjiloizou.
In April 2018 Daria made her debut in Muzikverein in Vienna (Austria).[15]
In 2018 she performed at the Xth anniversary festival of rhythmic gymnastics created by the Olympic games Champion Alina Kabaeva “Alina” (Moscow, “VTB Arena”), solo vocal production.
In August 2019 Daria took part in the II Diaghilev Festival of Russian Art in Deauville (France) together with the ballet troupe of the Bolshoi and Mariinsky Theatres of Russia under the direction of Sergey Filin[16].
In October 2019 Daria gave a serie of concerts of "Daria Opera Band" in China: the tour included more than 10 cities (Shanghai, Harbin, Guangzhou, Ordos etc.) and was dedicated to the 70th anniversary of People's Republic of China[17].
In January 2020, she released a new CD of classical and traditional Russian music as part of her collaboration with Russian television and radio company (VGTRK)[18]
Repertoire[edit]
Daria's repertoire includes the monoopera by M. Tariverdiev “The Waiting”, the role of Elena Popova in the opera of W. Walton “The Bear”, Mimi and Musette in “La Boheme” by G. Puccini, the Princess-Swan in the opera “The Tale of Tsar Saltan” by N. Rimsky-Korsakov, the Snow Maiden in the opera of the same name by N. Rimsky-Korsakov, Marfa in the opera "The Tsar’s Bride" by N. Rimsky-Korsakov and other opera parts. The cantate-oratorial repertoire includes parts for soprano in such compositions as "Requiem" by W. A. Mozart and "Requiem" by A.Ll. Webber, The Coronation Cantata by A. Glazunov, the symphonic poem "The Bells" by S. Rachmaninov etc.
Awards[edit]
She was awarded the title of laureate of the first degree of the international festival "Golden pages of Russian music."
She won the prize at the international competition of young singers of the Russian romance "Romansiada-2008" and the special prize "Miss - Romansiada".
