Darrin Doyle is a fiction writer and Associate Professor of English at Central Michigan University. He has received fellowships from the Sewanee Writers' Conference and the NY State Summer Writers Institute.

Darrin Doyle was born in Michigan and has lived in Saginaw, Grand Rapids, Kalamazoo, Osaka, Cincinnati, Louisville, and Manhattan. He received his M.F.A. from Western Michigan University and his Ph.D. from the University of Cincinnati.

Doyle's most recent book is the story collection Scoundrels Among Us (Tortoise Books 2018). He has previously published two novels – The Girl Who Ate Kalamazoo and Revenge of the Teacher’s Pet:A Love Story – as well as the story collection The Dark Will End the Dark.[1] His fiction has appeared in Puerto del Sol, The Long Story, Cottonwood, Alaska Quarterly Review, and other publications.

In a review of Scoundrels Among Us, Michael Ferro of Fiction Writer's Review states, "Men behaving badly have taken the center stage during the #MeToo movement of the last year, and rightfully so. Perhaps that is why Darrin Doyle’s new collection, Scoundrels Among Us, feels not only timelier and more pertinent but also that much more engrossing to read. Our culture has finally turned its long blind eye upon those men around us who skirt the rules, shun morals, and give masculinity a bad name. And in Doyle’s new collection of gritty, wildly original short stories, we get an up-close look at some pretty unusual dudes."[2]

Doyle's writing has been lauded by many in the literary world, including Bonnie Jo Campbell whose book, "Once Upon A River", was a National Book Award finalist. Currently, he teaches at Central Michigan University and lives in Mount Pleasant, Michigan with his wife and two sons.[3]

In addition to his publications and teaching career, Doyle is also part of a trio called Daryl & the Beans, which includes himself and poets Jeffrey Bean and Robert Fanning.[1]
