Data Rescue is a file undeletion software for Apple macOS, and Microsoft Windows, developed by Prosoft Engineering Inc.[1]
Data Rescue can recovery from internal and external Hard Disk Drives, Solid-State Drives, Flash media, SD Cards, and other Digital media types.[2] It recovers data from media formatted in FAT (FAT12, FAT16, and FAT32), ExFAT, ext2, ext3, HFS+, and NTFS file systems.[3][4][5] Data Rescue includes a feature called File IQ which allows a user to teach the software file types that are not natively available within the software. This is done by giving the software a few sample files for it to learn from then allowing the user to run a more in depth scan with the new file types that were taught to the software.[6] Data Rescue allows data files to be seen in its raw digital data form by using its Hex(Binary file) previewer. [7]
Data Rescue can clone all available space on the on source to a new destination drive. As mentioned by Adrian at softwarehow.com "It can clone a dying drive onto a working drive." Cloning a drive allows for a better recovery attempt without having to use the source drive if its failing.[8]
Data Rescue does not support network access, the user cannot remotely run the software on a computer on a network.[9]
