Rust shooting incident
Halls was the assistant director of Rust, an upcoming film starring (and produced by) Alec Baldwin.
Prior to Baldwin killing Halyna Hutchins on 21 October 2021, Halls was allegedly one of the people who handled the firearm which Baldwin shot her with.[1]
Julia Jones of CNN claimed that two people who worked closely with Halls said he was the target of safety complaints on during two 2019 productions.[2]
Halls' lawyer Lisa Torraco stated that Halls did not handle the gun.[3]
Halls later spoke out expressing hope that the film industry re-evaluates practices to ensure no one is harmed.[4]
