David Robert Rudolf (born April 6, 1950) is an American singer-songwriter, comedian, producer, and author. He has been active as a composer, recording artist, and producer since the early 1970s. His music covers a wide range of musical genres, including Folk, Rock, World, Comedy, and Children’s music.[1]

Career[edit]

Dave released his first album, TunesSmyth, in 1973 and started performing at college campuses. By 1981 he won his first of 15 nominations from the National Association for Campus Activities' College Entertainer of the Year award.[1] He has since gone on to perform at over 2,000 colleges as well as numerous park districts, and music festivals across the country. [2] Throughout his career Rudolf has shared the stage with Tim McGraw, Leo Kottke, The Beach Boys, The Everly Brothers, The Mammas & the Pappas, Steve Goodman, John Hartford, The Smother Brothers, Michael Smith, Megon McDonough, The Gatlin Brothers, Sha Na Na, and Cheech and Chong, among others. Rudolf has made several appearances on radio and TV shows, including the pilot for “Captain Kangaroo,”[4]Bozo’s Circus,” and Dr. Demento’s Radio Show. In 2006 his song, “Baseball” was featured on the Detroit Tigers year end review.[5] In 1996 Rudolf wrote the song, “Owl’s Song” which was featured on Disney’s Winnie the Pooh “Take My Hand” album, which earned him a Gold Record and Grammy Nomination.[6] [7] His music has also been featured in various films and television shows, notably the Canadian film Black Conflux, which featured his song, “Danger Zone.” [8] [9]

Personal Life[edit]

Born in Bradley, IL, Rudolf is the oldest of five children. He attended Western Illinois University. He currently performs mainly in the Chicagoland area, where he is a lifetime resident. Rudolf has 2 children and lives in Park Forest, IL, a south suburb of Chicago, with his wife, Carolyn.[10]
