Early life[edit]
David Lee Clair-Bennett was born in Cumberland, Maryland, the youngest child of Kimberly Clair, who worked as a social worker and David Bennett, who worked as a custodian, before retiring due to injury. Often referred to as the 'weird kid with dreams', Clair-Bennett was always determined to follow his dream of becoming a successful actor and film director someday. At the age of 8 years old, Clair-Bennett had written his first screenplay.
In late 2010, Clair-Bennett was forced to make a difficult decision to leave his friends behind and transfer to another school that would allow for Clair-Bennett to focus solely on his passion for movies and television production. In 2011, Clair-Bennett had transferred to a vocational school for a two-year program at the Center for Career and Technical Education going on to receive his certification in the field of Interactive Media Production in 2013.
Career[edit]
2013–2018: Career beginnings[edit]
Learning guitar at the early age of 10 years old, Clair-Bennett was instantly writing his own music. Inspired by the Pop punk genre of music, Clair-Bennett was inspired to make music based on some of his favorite artists such as Green Day, Simple Plan and We the Kings.
In October of 2013, Clair-Bennett had began releasing his own music publicly, often using his voice and an Acoustic guitar. A few months later, Clair-Bennett had formed his own band alongside his personal trainer and good friend, David Hammett as a backup singer/co-songwriter. Struggling to come up with a name for the newly formed acoustic duo, the group would go under the placeholder title of "The Double D's".
Finally coming up with an official band title in December of 2013, Feelings for the Weak was born and this new acoustic duo would travel from local malls to out of state cities doing everything in their power to get their voices heard to minuscule amounts of success.
In 2017, Hammett had informed Clair-Bennett that he was leaving the group so that he could focus on preparing to go into the Air Force Special Operations Command. The two remain good friends to this day.
Clair-Bennett had kept using the Feelings for the Weak name as a solo artist until he made the conscious decision to be a solo act under his real name.
With a new name came a new sound, from a soft-spoken voice with mellow acoustics to an updated Pop music style of sound that would mimic sounds from artists such as Post Malone, Ed Sheeran and Thirty Seconds to Mars.
In late 2018, Clair-Bennett had publicly announced via his Facebook page that he would be leaving the world of music so he could have more time to focus on his main passions of becoming a successful actor, screenwriter and film director. April 2018 was the last time David had publicly released music.
2013–present: Film and television[edit]
In late 2013, during his music career, Clair-Bennett had decided to focus on creating an online Miniseries that would air weekly on YouTube. Inspired by Drake & Josh, Clair-Bennett put an emphasis on making this series different from the Nickelodeon series but adapting elements from the show itself as a way to pay homage to the original series.
The series would receive the name of "Struggling, But Getting By" and would go on to air at midnight on December 25, 2013 to an overall positive reception. Due to scheduling conflicts, shooting weekly episodes became an issue with other members of the cast thus resulting in the show being forced to stop production indefinitely with no return to production in sight.
The show would have its moments in which it would return only to go away again. This start-and-stop of the series would only go on to hurt the show's reputation.
In 2014, Clair-Bennett went on to write, star in and direct his first publicly released short film entitled "A Lost Valentine", a Romance film focusing on the hardship of dealing with heartbreak on Valentine's Day. This film would go on to very little success.
By the time 2016 rolls around, Clair-Bennett had made the decision to go public with his battle with Binge eating disorder and how he was planning on tackling his addiction.
Dealing with an eating disorder, Depression (mood) and Body dysmorphic disorder, Clair-Bennett was subjected to public ridicule and was ashamed to do anything in the public.
In 2018, Clair-Bennett publicly announced he would be returning to the film world with his first film since 2014. After budget issues, the projects never saw the light of day but have not been cancelled according to an interview with Clair-Bennett in 2019.
After all of these hard times, David had realized he had to make the decision to break out of his comfort zone and release an unexpected short Psychological horror film entitled "RYKER" in October of 2019. This surprising release reinvigorated David's career and has since helped him go on to meet various personalities in the entertainment industry and has since opened multiple doors to the film industry which would lead to a second short film release just a few months later in February of 2020 entitled "Hey Alice" in which David went on to star in and co-write alongside his co-star and best friend, Russell Ketterman.
In March of 2020, it was revealed via Twitter that Clair-Bennett will be starring in, writing and directing his debut Feature film entitled Survivor's Choice (film) (previously known as "The Choice" using the "Clue IQ" escape room in Frederick, Maryland. This film will feature veteran actor Eric Roberts providing the voice of the Gamemaster behind the deadly escape rooms.
In January of 2021, Clair-Bennett issued a press release on social media announcing that he would be in charge of writing, directing, producing and starring in an original comedy series entitled "Struggling" with the release date aimed towards the Summer of 2021 on YouTube.

In 2008, Clair-Bennett had collapsed and was taken to a local medical facility to find his appendix had ruptured requiring Emergency Surgery for an Appendicitis. He has since revealed that doctors told him if he didn't arrive hours sooner, Clair-Bennett would be dead.
Clair-Bennett began a relationship with Antonia Bruck in July 2015. In the Summer of 2016, Clair-Bennett had announced he had proposed to his girlfriend in New York City and that she had said yes to the proposal. They were married on April 27, 2019 in Cumberland, Maryland.
