David Cravit
David Cravit is a Canadian author, public speaker, and vice president of ZoomerMedia. He is the author of The New Old: How the Boomers Are Changing Everything...Again published by ECW Press on October 1, 2008[1] and Beyond Age Rage: How the Boomers and Seniors Are Solving the War of the Generations published by BPS Books on April 16, 2012.[2]
The books track the "reinvention of aging" driven by the Baby Boomer generation, and the implications for marketing, social policy, education and politics. It isn't just a matter of more people living longer, Cravit argues, it's that they have dramatically different attitudes and behaviours than "older" people of previous generations, and as life spans push toward 100, there will be profound effects on every aspect of society -- including serious inter-generational conflicts over funding of health care, education and other social services.
Cravit researches and comments on these topics on his own personal blog, and at ZoomerMedia, he works to educate and inform advertisers through ZoomerU. ZoomerU offers marketing insights, research, and commentary on overall market trends, plus customized information for specific product categories or clients.
Cravit has been a frequent speaker at corporate and industry events concerning marketing and development. He has also been a guest on multiple radio and TV shows, including The Zoomer, produced by ZoomerMedia, where he is a regular panelist. He has also contributed to numerous magazines, websites and professional journals.
Cravit has over 30 years' experience in advertising, marketing and consulting. Cravit was a partner in Saffer Cravit & Freedman which he helped take from start-up to over $150 million in annual billings.[3] The agency had offices in Toronto and Chicago, and was recognized as a leading retail specialist agency in North America. After selling his interest in Saffer Cravit & Freedman, Cravit worked as an independent consultant to other advertising agencies in Canada and the USA, before joining ZoomerMedia in November 2005.
A native of Toronto, Ontario, Cravit was educated at the University of Toronto, where he received a Bachelor of Arts degree in Political Science.[4] He is dual citizen of Canada and the USA.
