David G. W. Birch is a British consultant and author. He is a director of Consult Hyperion, a specialist electronic transactions consulting firm that advises governments and large companies on electronic identity and electronic money.

He is the Chairman of the annual Digital Money Forum[1] and Digital Identity Forum [2] in London and the principal author of the related blogs[3][4] and series of podcasts.[5]

He is the editor of a book on Digital Identity Management published in April 2007[6] and the author of the 2014 book Identity is the New Money.[7]

He wrote more than a hundred Second Sight columns for The Guardian newspaper from 1999-2005. [8]

The word "internesia" is attributed to him.[9]

Financial World magazine, May 2007, calls him "an expert, engaging and witty writer. What he writes is worth reading, and amusing." [10]
