David Jubermann[1] (born 4 February 1982) is a New Zealand writer[2] and the author of Shiftlight,[3] Drift Race,[4] Just Us[5] and Hypercar.[6]
He was born in Lindau, Germany, and migrated with his family to New Zealand in 1990. Brought up in Golden Bay, he completed a bursary in 1999 and then moved to Christchurch. He was awarded a BSc degree from the University of Canterbury in 2002. David Jubermann is the founder and director of the software company, Hexedra Systems Limited (est 2009)[7] and lives and works in Auckland, where he continues to write.
His enthusiasm for performance cars was triggered by the diversity and controversy of the automotive scene in Christchurch. As a keen reader, he also noticed the lack of literature covering this genre. Prompted by his personal experiences and those of his friends,[8] he wrote his first novel, Shiftlight, and based it in Christchurch.[9] The book received many positive reviews[10][11][12] and was discussed on various forums.[13] His second book, Drift Race was published in April 2012. Based on drifting (motorsport), it is a loose sequel to Shiftlight.[14][15][16] Both books are used in high school English lessons as a NCEA learning resource.[17] Both books are sometimes used in high school English lessons as a NCEA learning resource.
His latest book, Hypercar, published in February 2015, follows on from Shiftlight and Drift Race and is the third book in this popular car-series. It has received positive reviews.[18][19]
