David Kolodny (born December 31, 1990) is an American entrepreneur. He is the co-founder of Wilbur Labs, a startup studio based in Miami, Florida.[1] Previously, he served as a Growth Strategist and Product Specialist at Google from 2013 to 2016.[2] He was named to the 2020 Forbes 30 Under 30 list for Consumer Technology[3].
Early life and education
Kolodny was born in Sherman Oaks, California.[4] He attended the University of Michigan Stephen M. Ross School of Business, graduating in 2013 with a Bachelor of Business Administration (BBA).[5]
Career
From 2013 to 2016, Kolodny worked at Google headquarters in Mountain View, California, as a Growth Strategist and Product Specialist on the Customer Solutions & Innovations team. During this time, he met Phil Santoro.[6] The two collaborated on identifying market inefficiencies and potential startup solutions.[7]
Wilbur Labs
In 2016, Kolodny left Google to co-found Wilbur Labs with Santoro.[8] Wilbur Labs operates as a startup studio, providing funding, shared resources, and operational support to build and scale companies internally.[9][10]
Since its inception, the studio has built and invested in over 21 companies. Notable portfolio companies include:
- VacationRenter: Launched in 2018, the company reportedly became the fastest-growing travel startup to reach $1 billion in gross bookings.[11]
- Barkbus: Launched in 2020, this venture scaled to become the largest mobile dog grooming company in the United States.[12]

Kolodny is a speaker on entrepreneurship[13] and a frequent contributor[14] to business publications, including Inc. Magazine,[15] Fast Company,[16] and Entrepreneur.[17] He writes on topics related to company building and startup strategy. He also co-hosts the online video series Wilbur Labs Founder FAQ.[18]
