David Lee is an English professional mixed martial artist who has competed for Ultimate Fighting Championship, Cage Rage, BAMMA, Bushido and UCMMA. He is currently the Featherweight Champion for Bushido Challenge.
History[edit]
David Lee has been doing one form or another of martial art since he was very young, with his older brother and sister studying judo, with his sister Michelle being a budding champion in her youth. As a child he followed in their footsteps and moved on to karate as well. Lee also states that when doing Muay Thai or boxing, he loves training but he would never compete, because he always feels frustrated; it's the same with submission wrestling, he has competed in some tournaments, but always feels frustrated that he can't punch or kick. Its because of this that once he discovered MMA, he realized it is 'one of the best, and easiest place to step in and test all your skills, rather than not just your skills on the ground, or standing up, but puts it all together!'
Mixed Martial Arts[edit]
Lee has fought the likes of Tyson Griffin and Turkish Cage Rage veteran Sami Berik. Lee defeated Ashleigh Grimshaw for the Bushido Challenge featherweight title on December 13, 2009 and won his recent fight against James Saville for the UCMMA featherweight title on March 27, 2010. He then went on to lose at BAMMA 3 against previous TUF fighter and MMA veteran Jeff Lawson on 15 May 2010.
Lee defended his UCMMA Featherweight Title against John Kelly at UCMMA 17- Kings of the Cage, winning via rear naked choke after 2 minutes of round one. He dropped his opponent with a spinning back kick and a flying knee, moving into ground and pound and finally sinking in the choke to submit Kelly.
Lee next attempted to defend his UCMMA title against Welsh Featherweight stand-out Nathan Beer at UCMMA 20 Fists of Fire. He lost the fight via unanimous decision.
