David Osper
David Osper is an American television producer. He has been developing and producing reality formats and docu-series for over a decade. He was the Vice President of Programming at MTV from 2013 through 2016, where he supervised the development and production of dozens of pilots, new series, specials and one of the longest running series on the network True Life. He continues to oversee "True Life" as the Executive Producer.
Osper is a graduate of the University of Southern California, an avid sailer, aviator, amateur chef, musician, world traveler and all around adventure seeker.
Career[edit]
Osper began his TV career in 2001, as an assistant in the art department for music videos and commercials. He graduated to directing commercial spots, music videos, and documentaries. By 2003, David was working in development, and as a story producer where he sold his first three projects to MTV which resulted in a development deal with VH1 and Endemol.
During his time at MTV, he successfully launched several shows including Slednecks and Suspect. He also ran the long running series True Life, resulting in a 50 percent increase in ratings, and a wide range of development pilots and specials such as Cut, Raising Mom, Expiration Dating, Unprotected Text, Hip Hop Hustlers, Throwback Thursday, The Hic Life, Cheer Rescue. Prior to joining MTV, David was the Showrunner for "Buckwild", one of MTVs more recent highest rated and beloved series.
In addition to his tenure at MTV, he has directed and produced a variety of shows for several networks ranging from Vh1, Bravo, E!, Travel Channel, Food Network, History Channel and Starz where he was fortunate to work in 26 countries and helped create the hit series "Ancient Aliens," as well as direct a TV documentary titled The Face Is Familiar, Food Paradise and "Bridget Marquardt" Bridget’s Sexiest Beaches.
In 2009, David simultaneously created and launched three of his own series, "The Rock Life for VH1", "First Class: All the Way" for Bravo and "High Maintenance 90210" for E! and in 2008, he co-created and Executive Produced the new series "Buzzin’(TV series)" for MTV. Prior to those shows, from 2005 to 2008, David created and Executive Produced "Homewrecker (TV series)" for MTV, as well as Home James and The Love Lounge for Vh1.
