David Pickvance

David Pickvance is a British-Australian composer working in film, radio, and television.

Biography

A graduate of the Queensland Conservatorium,[1] Pickvance composed and produced four instrumental CDs that were released throughout Australasia and Western Europe. Two titles, Tempest and River King, won the BASF Music Award in 1994 and 1996.

In 1996, he started composing for theatre, television, and film. In 2001, he relocated to London and composed for the BBC, HiT Entertainment, BFI, and Disney Channel. In 2005, he was awarded the BBC Composer-in-Residence position. High-profile productions include The City Speaks, Richard III, The Birds, Where The Wild Things Are, I, Claudius, and Peter Pan in Scarlet.

In 2007, Pickvance created the Creative Sound course for the Tate Modern in London.

Since 2008, he has been commissioned by Mattel and HIT Entertainment to compose the music for series 6, 7, 8, 9, 10 & 11 and the four feature films of the classic kids' TV series Fireman Sam.
