Music[edit]

Since 2008 David Mnatsakanyan began to write musical compositions in Sweden.

Born: 31 October 1949; Yerevan, Armenian SSRProfession: diplomat, composer. 2005−2011 – Consul-General of the Russian Federation in Göteborg (Sweden). А member of the International Project "Musicians for Peace" (Moscow, Geneva). Member of the Creative Community "Maestro" (St. Petersburg).

He is the author of the works "My Way", "Christmas Fantasy[2][3][4][5]", "Spring[6]", "Ulrika[7][8]";. David Mnatsakanyan intuitively named his first composition “My Way”[9][10][11]. “Music lives in every person. Everyone goes to music in their own way”. Probably, it was “his way”.

The uniqueness of the work is that each listener sees his “own personal way” in it.

The composition very quickly gained popularity and was often sounded at ambassadorial receptions at the request of the audience, and the Swedish performers present it with pleasure.

David Mnatsakanyan's composing talent was heard, of course, in Russia. At the concert of the Creative Community "Maestro", "My Way" was first performed in March 2008 in the White Hall of the Great Peterhof Palace. It was performed by the symphony orchestra under the direction of P. Oparovsky.

In 2008 Mnatsakanyan became a member of the Creative Community "Maestro". Composition "My Way"; entered the repertoire of not only "Maestro";, but also other musical groups.

Thus, in April 2008, in the Great Hall of the Stockholm Academy of Music in Sweden, the composition was performed by the chamber orchestra of the Kaliningrad State Philharmonic under the direction of Honored Artist of Russia A. Andreev. And on October 10, 2009, "My Way"; was performed by the St. Petersburg Festival Orchestra (artistic director and chief conductor was Kristofer Wahlander, Sweden) at the charity concert "Hit Parade of Opera Music";, held as part of the annual worldwide campaign in support of hospices and providing palliative care.

David Mnatsakanyan’s composition "Christmas Fantasy"; (dedicated to daughter Kristina) was first heard in the same hall of the Consulate General, where his career as a composer began. Both compositions ("My Way"; and "Christmas Fantasy") became the hallmark of the Swedish figure skater Adrian Schultheiss, who chose her for his free program at the 2008 World Championships in Göteborg. "My Way" has been performed in Göteborg, Helsinki, Prague, Paris, Turin, Tokyo, Lake Placid.[12][13]

At the 2010 Olympic Games in Vancouver, the Swedish figure skating champion is already arranging the choreography of his short and free program around the pieces by the Russian composer, orchestrated by a young Swedish musician, chief conductor of the St. Petersburg Festival Orchestra Kristofer Wahlander.

For the Russian audience, "My Way"; was performed in Moscow at a joint concert of Robert Wells with Dmitry Malikov.

This was followed by new creative successes of David Mnatsakanyan - "Spring"; and "Ulrika", written in Karlovy Vary. It was named in honor of the young lover of Wolfgang Goethe, who often came to this resort.

The outstanding pianist of our time, Alexander Ghindin, not only included the compositions of David Mnatsakanyan in his concert program along with the classical piano pieces, but also recommended that he turn to the talented contemporary composer Alexei Kurbatov.

The result of the creative union was a full-scale piano concert by Alexei Kurbatov on themes by David Mnatsakanyan (Alexey Kurbatov's Piano Concerto with Orchestra No.2 on themes by David Mnatsakanyan, Op. 27.)[14].[15]

Its premiere took place at the closing of the classical music season at the Moscow International House of Music. The performance of the Piano Concerto by Alexander Ghindin, accompanied by the orchestra under the baton of the assistant chief conductor of the Boston Symphony Orchestra, Andris Poga, was a triumph.

In gratitude, both composers dedicated their creation to its first performer, Alexander Ghindin. The compositions of David Mnatsakanyan were performed by leading musical groups such as State Kremlin Orchestra of the Directorate of the President of the Russian Federation, National Symphony Orchestra of Ecuador, the Moscow Symphony Orchestra "Russian Philharmonic", the Academic Symphony Orchestra named after D. D. Shostakovich, National Philharmonic Orchestra of Armenia, Symphony Orchestra of the National Academic Opera and Ballet Theater named after A. Spendiaryan, Central Military Orchestra of the Ministry of Defense of Russia, St. Petersburg Festival Orchestra, Kaliningrad Chamber Orchestra of the State Philharmonic Society named after E. F. Svetlanov.

The depth of the lyricism of the compositions was highly appreciated by such masters of the musical world as Gennady Rozhdestvensky, Vasily Sinaisky, Vladimir Yurovsky, Alexander Vedernikov and others.[16] In the anniversary year of the composer, author's evenings dedicated to the 10th anniversary of his career were held in Moscow, Yerevan and Minsk.[17]

In 2019, he was listed in the Russian Book of Records. Record: "The greatest age of the diplomat-author of a musical composition performed during an athlete's performance at the World Figure Skating Championships. Result: 58 years 71 days".[1][18]
