Ashlee Deanna Faison (born October 31, 1985), known professionally as DeAna Fai, is an American singer-songwriter and actress from Hampton, Virginia. Fai is known for her song "Christmas Love." It appears in the Romantic Comedy "The Holiday Proposal Plan's" trailer as the theme song starring Tatyana Ali,[2] Jesse Kove,[3] Whitney Able Melnik, Patrick Faucette[4] and Geovanni Gopradi that aired on Lifetime TV. Fai is also known for her podcast "DeAna Fai presents Kings and Queens of Entertainment" which has been attended by various entertainers such as Rodney Perry, DJ Babey Drew, Claudia Jordan, Erica Hubbard, Lady Luck, D-Teck, Rebecca Crews, Brandon Broady, Angelique Bates, DJ Pryor, Kenneth Okolie, Carlos Battey, Rosemary Rodriguez, Dunlap Exclusive, Tehran Von Ghasri, Stevie Boi, Tony Dofat and more.[5]

Career

2011–2019: Independent music, film and television roles

In 2011, Fai received an invitation by Heavy D and Bad Boy Entertainment music engineer J.F. Bey to write songs for the ninth and final studio album Love Opus.[5]

In 2015, Fai landed a placement in the film "My Favorite Five" as a playback singer for the song "Breathe."[5][6]

In 2017, DeAna Fai appears in Empire (2015 TV series) as an upscale bar patron.[5]

In 2018, Fai's song "Grown Woman" appeared in "Hey, Mr. Postman."[5]

In 2019, Fai's song "Perfectly Single," debuted in the film "Perfectly Single" as the theme song in the teaser trailer, as well as in the film alongside her other song "Selfie."[5]

2020 – Present: Independent music, film and television roles

In 2020, Fai's song "Unaffected" appeared in the drama "Puzzled."[5][5] Fai also made an appearance on the "Loni Love Quarantine Talent Show" which was created and hosted by the comedian and former daytime television co-star of The Real (talk show), Loni Love. As a finalist on the show, she performed her rendition of “Listen” by Beyonce in 2020 which brought in 50,000 to 100,000 viewers.[5][7]

In 2022, Fai's Official Music Video "Me and Mine" features a cameo by Grammy, GMA Dove Award and Stellar Award winning music producer, Dunlap Exclusive.[citation needed] Fai's song "Christmas Love" was in the teaser trailer, and also appeared in the film along with her other records "Me and Mine," "Challenge," and "Two Worlds" that was released within the same year.[citation needed]

In 2023, Fai's song "Christmas Love" is the main song and appeared in the teaser trailer of 'The Holiday Proposal Plan"[8][9] starring Tatyana Ali, Jesse Kove, Whitney Able, Michael Sasaki, Robin Riker, Tiffany Shepis, Geovanni Gopradi, Patrick Faucette and Mike Heslin. The film was directed by Jake Helgren. It was produced by Jake Helgren and Autumn Federici of The Ninth House and aired on Lifetime (TV network).[10]

In 2024, DeAna Fai performs her original songs "Christmas Love" and "Ready For Christmas" as a playback singer in "A Kismet Holiday" starring Kym Whitley, Elle Varner, Joyful Drake, Lamman Rucker, Asiahn, and Derrick A. King.[citation needed] The film won "The Essence Film Festival" Jury Award for Best Narrative Feature Film at Essence Fest in New Orleans, LA.[11]
