Dean O'Halloran is an Irish professional footballer who plays as a winger for League of Ireland First Division club Waterford.
Club career
Fulham
O'Halloran signed as a schoolboy in February 2012 with Fulham, joining up with the U16 squad. He signed scholarship terms the following summer and has been with the U18 squad for the previous two seasons, helping the side as they finished runners-up in the FA Youth Cup in 2014 where they lost 7-6 on aggregate to Chelsea despite O'Halloran providing assists for Moussa Dembélé in the first leg at Craven Cottage and the second leg at Stamford Bridge. Dean was unfortunate in his first full season, 2012–13, after injuries prevented him making an impact and limited him to just 12 league appearances for the U18's mostly as a substitute. 2013-14 saw much more game time for Dean, and he impressed both as a right winger and, on occasion, as a striker. For the first half of the 2014-15 season, he was used mainly as a striker in the Under-21 squad due to lack of U21 forwards on the clubs books. An important squad member, unfortunately O'Halloran broke his ankle in January 2015 during an U21 Premier League match at Motspur Park against Southampton U21. Set to be released by the club, O'Halloran was offered a 6-month contract in July 2015 which was then extended until the end of the season. Again, he spent it with the U21 squad and failed to break into the first team. He was released in the summer of 2016. After leaving Fulham Dean went on trial with Portsmouth. It looked like he would be signing at Fratton Park, but he opted for a return to Ireland instead.
Bohemians
In August 2016, O'Halloran signed for Irish club Bohemians at the halfway point in the season. He made his debut in their 3-2 victory over Sligo Rovers. He finished the season with 10 league appearances.
Waterford FC
In January 2017, it was announced that O'Halloran would sign for hometown club Waterford. He was the club's first official signing along with David Mulcahy. The club also announced the managerial team of Pat Fenlon and Alan Reynolds as Director of Football and Head Coach respectively on the same day. He made his debut in a 1-0 defeat away to Athlone Town on 24 February.
