Dear Billy
Dear Billy is the fourth episode of season four. Agent Stinson, Agent Wallace, and Agent Harmon tell Mike Wheeler, Will Byers, and Jonathan Byers that Eleven has been shot by police officers in order to hide where she is, and that they are there to protect them from any other officers. Max Mayfield tells Dustin Henderson, Robin Buckley, and Steve Harrington about her hearing a loud watch and how she was paranoid. Eddie Munson then runs to them and tells them his camper has been compromised because of Jason Carver, Patrick McKinney, and Andy. Nancy and Robin decide to go visit Victor Creel in Pennhurst, and they would meet the warden Anthony Hatch. Joyce Byers says that Murray Bauman and her should hurry to meet their contact, but Murray tells her that the contact has probably been eaten by a bear already. Max, being paranoid, writes many letters to Vecna and demons, begging them not to whisk away her soul. Nancy and Robin ask Hatch to visit Victor, and after talking about going to his summer school, he gives in and lets them go visit Victor. After finding out that their contact was eaten by a bear, Joyce and Murray ask Yuri Ismaylov to help them get to Dmitri Antonov. Meanwhile, Jim Hopper starts to break every single sledgehammer inside of his prison, which makes the guards so very angry, the guards drag Hopper into the death row area, but the murder machine doesn’t work, so by law they must release him. The guards fight Hopper. They all fire their guns at the same time, attracting even more guards to fight Hopper until the entire prison is after him. Hopper tries to lock himself in the shack, but the door explodes, and the entire shack explodes soon after, launching Hopper through the roof. When he lands on the ground, he enters a snowmobile and escapes. Max wants to thank all of her relatives for turning up to her last birthday, so she leaves letters for all of them and tells her mom to deliver all of them. Susan Mayfield is confused why Max wrote these letters, and slowly melts, transforming into Vecna and telling her she forgot her watch. Max realizes that her mother never existed and that she was dreaming. Hatch tells the girls that Victor’s cell was in front of them, Nancy wants to talk to Victor alone, so she shoots Hatch, a security guard tells Nancy to please not touch Victor, because even though he is very cute, he bites, he also asks Nancy to not feed Victor outside food. Argyle drives to Will’s house with a loaded gun while Mike and Will fight because Will thinks Mike is hurting his feelings, but suddenly, Harmon gets shot and dies, and Argyle shoots Wallace shortly after. Argyle must hide the body, so he tosses Harmon into his trunk and drives off, Will and Mike chasing after him. Yuri tells Antonov that he is giving Joyce and Murray to him because he knows Antonov loves to meet new people. At Billy Hargrove's grave, Max starts insulting him for being a dishonest cheat, but then Billy revives and slowly rises from his gravestone. He rolls a D20 and smiles, knowing Max would soon be dead. The D20 lands on 20, summoning Vecna. Meanwhile Victor Creel reveals that when he moved into his new home, it was such a cute house, so his kids liked it. He found a set of dices in Henry’s room, so he rolls them and they landed on 20s and a 1, when he turned around his family was dead except for Henry who survived, and all of a sudden he heard his least favorite song, Never Gonna Give You Up, he was afraid of this song and ran away, somehow surviving Vecna’s wrath. Hatch suddenly shoots Victor, getting mad that Nancy shot him, but Nancy shoots him, killing him. Vecna grabs Max and traps her on a wall. She screams for help, but the kids don’t see her. Nancy tells the kids to play Max’s least favorite song, and Dustin hacks into her iPhone 17 and plays her least favorite song, Dream a Little Dream of Me. He accidentally trips on his way back, falling off a cliff. Max is horrified and runs away, while running up that hill, she spots her friends, she escapes from Vecna and enters the kids’ arms.
