Kerian Witter (born April 25, 1990), also known as Dear Pricey,[1] is a Barbadian rapper and songwriter born in Saint Michael, Barbados.[2] He has released 2 singles "Hello" and "Only Motivate" under his MoneyEntrè Music Group label.[3]
Early life
At an early age, Dear Pricey[4] was exposed to his mother's love of singing. She sang songs from a small radio frequently, and he soon became curious and wanted to hear his own voice doing the same. After recording hundreds of songs on cassette tapes, he decided to take his craft to an actual recording studio, where he became serious about becoming a rapper.[5] Dear Pricey attended Franklin D. Roosevelt High School, where he would give out his mixtapes and rap with classmates.
Career
Dear Pricey[6] was signed to Nickel Plated Enterprise in 2005, recording over 400 songs. In 2009, he signed to Musik Note Entertainment, under the management of CEO, Jay Dunning, who has worked with musicians such as Jermaine Dupri and Alicia Keys. Under the management, Dear Pricey released four mixtapes: "The Commercial", "Flow With The Stars", "The Hottest Youngest Unsigned Artist", and 2011's most inspired mixtape, "Dollar And a Dream." To build a fan base, Dear Pricey conducted radio interviews[7] and frequently performed at local shows. Dear Pricey opened for Atlantic Records former artist Maino, after his career-turning performance at Musik Note Black & White Affair, held at Brooklyn’s Oceana Hall, June 5, 2010.[8] He received words of wisdom from Troy Taylor (record producer): “You got to get this for yourself. People can tell you, but it’s better when you get it for you.” Dear Pricey performed at a DefJam Showcase, August 8, 2010, and won 1st place. Shortly after, he performed at the Georgia Dome World Congress Center in 2010.
Dear Pricey made his first premiere at the well-known venue SOBs in 2014.[9] Including participating in host/comedian Jack Thriller’s 16orbetterCypher,[10] which quickly became popular on Thisis50.com.[11] Through performances, networking, and a growing fan base, Dear Pricey is very thankful for his God-given talent, all supporters, and people who have encouraged him along the way. Dear Pricey is set to release his first EP this year, 2015, already releasing 2 singles: "Hello"[12] and "Only Motivate".[13]
Influences
Dear Pricey has cited Jay Z, Bone Thugs-n-Harmony, and Tupac Shakur as his influences and calls Jay Z his favorite rapper/entrepreneur.[14]
