The Death of Chad Oulson was a 2014 incident in Wesley Chapel, Florida United States where retired law enforcement officer Curtis J. Reeves Jr.[1] shot and killed Chad Oulson.
On 13 January 2014,[2] Chad Oulson and his wife were watching the movie "Lone Survivor" while retired law enforcement officer Curtis Reeves and his wife were doing the same. Reeves talked to Oulson about him text messaging while previews were being displayed. Oulson tossed popcorn at Reeves, who then fatally shot Oulson.[3]
Tampa defense attorney Richard Escobar referred to the case as "the largest self-defense case ever in Florida".[4]
