On March 12, 2025, Chantel Crump, a 9-year-old girl from Grays Farm, Antigua and Barbuda, was reported missing. A 20-year-old woman was arrested in connection with the case, and after police questioning, Crump's remains were recovered in Weatherhills on March 15. The suspect has been charged with murder.

Background

Crump was the youngest of four children and attended Five Islands Primary School.

Abduction and investigations

Witnesses reported that she was picked up by a woman driving a car, less than one minute from her home. She was walking home from school with classmates when she was abducted.

After a search by residents and law enforcement, police arrested a 20-year-old woman, who was held for questioning. Following three days of police questioning, the suspect's report led police to Crump's remains in a secluded area at Weatherhills, miles from where she was abducted.

Public reaction

Funeral

Chantel Crump was buried on June 10, 2025 one day after she would have celebrated her 10th birthday.
