Introduction
Hailing from the historic land of West Bengal’s North 24 Parganas and born into an extremely humble family on 10th March 1971, in a very short span of time, Mr. Deb Kumar Chatterjee has developed a clean image as a highly respected member of society; a well-deserved result of his hard work in the domain of social service.[1]
Owing to his soft-spoken skills, calmness, and amiable nature, Mr. Chatterjee is now a well-known public figure and large-hearted social serviceman. Having started his social work from his home district (North 24 Parganas), Mr. Chatterjee has successfully created a distinct image for himself, from Kolkata to New Delhi, for his outstanding services.[2]
Mr. Chatterjee completed his elementary education in Kolkata and afterward pursued graduation from the famous Kalinga University in Journalism & Mass Communication. Mr. Deb K. Chatterjee is now an established personality throughout West Bengal as a social worker, politician, and industrialist. Fully committed to the Bhartiya Janta Party and keeping in mind the upcoming Assembly Elections, Mr. Chatterjee is completely and continuously dedicated to disseminating his party’s ideology among the masses.
Social Service Portfolio
Taking inspiration from great personalities like Swami Ramkrishna Paramhans, Swami Vivekananda, Netaji Subhash Chandra Bose, Gurudev Rabindranath Tagore, Mata Anandmayi, Ishwarchandra Vidyasagar, etc., Mr. Deb Kumar Chatterjee considers them his ideals and has been actively engaged in social service from the very beginning. Mr. Chatterjee is perpetually striving to transform the Antyodaya dream of Pandit Deendayal Upadhyay into reality by constantly attempting to include the most marginalized people into the social mainstream.
Currently, he is the National Secretary General of the Pradhan Mantri Jan Kalyankari Yojana Prachar Samiti (PMJYPS), through which he conveys crucial information related to the public welfare schemes formulated to benefit India's 1.25 billion people, including the people of Bengal. Along with this, Mr. Chatterjee is also known for his selfless service and has contributed wholeheartedly during times of national distress.
Be it the recent healthcare crisis caused by the COVID-19 pandemic or the havoc caused by the Amphan Cyclone, he was always present alongside relief workers to help Bengal’s general public. Mr. Chatterjee worked hard for Daridra Narayan Seva in various regions of Kolkata, Howrah, and Dum Dum, along with making residential arrangements for the needy. Furthermore, to strengthen the battle against the Coronavirus, he facilitated the gathering of a significantly large public donation for the PM CARES Fund.
Deb TV; a platform for free public opinion
Mr. Chatterjee’s devotion and dedication to social service are integral to the execution of his responsibilities toward civil society. A learned graduate in Journalism & Mass Communication, he launched the Bangla channel – “Deb TV” on August 15, 2019, to provide a platform for the voices of Bengal’s general public; the land hailed as the birthplace of Indian Journalism.[3]
Following independence, the objective of media underwent transformation, and West Bengal was not untouched. Therefore, in the era of commercial journalism, to amplify the suppressed voices of the deprived, backward, women, and the disabled, Deb TV has established itself as a highly popular and leading channel, not only in Kolkata and Howrah but throughout West Bengal. The very foundation of Deb TV is a living example of Mr. Deb Kumar Chatterjee’s social dedication.[4]
Deb & Deb Nidhi Limited; an #Aatmnirbhar initiative
Following the guidelines conveyed by the Hon. Prime Minister of India – Mr. Narendra Modi, to achieve self-dependency or Aatmanirbhartaa during the spread of the Coronavirus, in November 2020, Mr. Deb Kumar Chatterjee established a private company named – “Deb & Deb Nidhi Limited.” The company's core objectives are:
- To establish connections with the general public of Bengal and spread awareness about the Central Government’s public welfare schemes.
- To work for the skill development of the potential workforce, making them job-ready.
- To financially empower the masses and provide necessary financial aid.
- To realize the dream of #AatmanirbharBhaarat through the motto of “Sankalp se Siddhi” and widespread public reach.
Deb & Deb Nidhi Limited is a public welfare company that empowers members of the Scheduled Castes, the Scheduled Tribes, the Backward Classes, the Marginalized Classes, the Minorities, along with Women and Differently-Abled people. The company works to make people self-dependent in all aspects of life and livelihood.
A steadfast promise to self; Political journey
Soon after India’s independence, West Bengal’s 90 million people have yet to receive their due share of social justice. Therefore, with a dedicated will to grant them their rights and provide deserved representation for Bengal’s 90 million people, Mr. Chatterjee formed a political party named: Rashtriya Janadhikar Suraksha Party in 2012, with a mission to liberate the Bengali masses from the 35-year-long oppressive Communist regime and the corrupt 10-year rule of the Trinamool Congress.[5]
His political party gained momentum and popularity among the common people, quickly establishing roots throughout West Bengal. With the focused aim of strengthening the Bhartiya Janta Party’s efforts to politically oust the ruling Trinamool Congress in the 2021 Assembly Polls and owing to similar ideologies, Mr. Chatterjee’s Rashtriya Janadhikar Suraksha Party merged with the Bhartiya Janta Party under the guidance of State Chief & Lok Sabha Member – Mr. Dilip Ghosh.[6]
This merger aimed to not only change the government but also to reform the administrative system against decades of injustice. Mr. Chatterjee has selflessly supported the Bhartiya Janta Party in the Assembly Elections to safeguard the dignity of the Bengali people.
Intellectual Organizations; Memberships
Mr. Deb Kumar Chatterjee possesses a dynamic personality that embraces change. To facilitate necessary societal changes, he holds memberships in various intellectual organizations. For example:
- In 2017, he established the Institute of Political Leadership in Kolkata to develop leadership values and the intellect to execute social duties among Bengal’s youth.
- He is the State Coordinator for the Bengal Unit of the New Delhi-based Policy Root Research Foundation.
In West Bengal, while associated with the Policy Root Research Foundation, Mr. Chatterjee worked to dispel doubts and fake news regarding the CAA-NRC. He also spearheaded the national initiative – “Aahvaan” – for a referendum on #AatmanirbharBhaarat. Currently, Mr. Deb Kumar Chatterjee is involved in the nationwide “Manthan” regarding the “One Nation, One Election” initiative, garnering support through public awareness. Through his memberships with the Policy Root Research Foundation and the Institute of Political Leadership, Mr. Chatterjee continuously strives to cultivate an intellectual workforce in Bengal, U.P., and mega cities like Delhi and Mumbai.
