Debi Prasad Mishra is an Indian scientist and professor of Aerospace Engineering at IIT Kanpur and the director of the National Institute of Technical Teachers' Training and Research, Kolkata.[1][2] His research interests include combustion, computational fluid dynamics, and atomization.
Education[edit]
After completing his Bachelor of Science (Engg.) in Mechanical Engineering from University College of Engineering, Burla, Odisha, in 1987, he pursued his Ph.D. in Mechanical Engineering from IISc Bangalore in 1994.[3] He worked as a Senior Research Engineer at the Engineering Mechanics Research Corporation, Bangalore, specializing in combustion and CFD. In 1996, he joined IIT Kanpur as an Assistant Professor in the Department of Aerospace Engineering.
Awards and Honours[edit]
He received the Indian Oil Golden Jubilee Professional Chair at IIT Kanpur and was a Visiting Professor at Tokyo-Denki University, Japan, in 2002. Notable awards include the Young Scientist Award, Sir Rajendranath Mookerjee Memorial Award, and the National Design Award in Mechanical Engineering.
Research[edit]
Dr. Mishra has served as an Assistant Editor for the International Journal of Hydrogen Energy and is a member of the editorial boards of several journals. He holds six Indian patents and has authored over 229 research papers and five textbooks, including "Fundamentals of Combustion" and "Engineering Thermodynamics".
Social Contribution[edit]
He works to revitalize ancient Indian science and technology. His books, "Glimpses of Ancient Indian Science and Technology" and "Forays into Ancient Indian Science and Technology", and his MOOC course, "An Introduction to Ancient Indian Technology", are notable contributions. His Bachpan Bachao Abhiyan is a significant social initiative.
