DeepMark Inc. is a technology company focused on digital watermarking and provenance tools for synthetic media. The company develops deep-learning methods for embedding and detecting invisible identifiers in audio, with work extending to video, aimed at verifying origin and tracing misuse.
History
DeepMark was co-founded by Slavko Kovačević and Kosta Pavlović as a spin-out from the University of Montenegro, where they researched watermarking and media forensics.[citation needed] The team’s early publication has been cited by researchers at Microsoft Research Asia, Adobe, Meta Platforms, Sony AI, and by universities including Northwestern University[1]. The company later participated in an acceleration program and closed a pre-seed funding round.
Technology
DeepMark’s work centers on neural “embedder–detector” systems that insert imperceptible identifiers into audio and attempt to recover them after common edits and transforms. Use cases include provenance, compliance, and deepfake mitigation, with support for zero-bit and multi-bit watermarking.
