Deepak Thakur is an Indian Bollywood singer and reality show contestant. He was a contestant and second runner up on the popular reality show Bigg Boss 12 in 2018. Deepak will be felicitated with Dadasaheb Phalke International Film Festival Award in Best Entertainer - Reality Show category in 2019.[1]
Biography[edit]
Deepak hails from Athar village of Muzaffarpur district in Bihar. India. From an agrarian background, Deepak is the only singer in his family.[2] Deepak is an alumnus of Oxford Public School, Muzaffarpur, Bihar and later joined Pristine Children's High School, Muzaffarpur, Bihar. He graduated from Lalit Narayan Mishra College of Business Management, Muzaffarpur in Bachelor of Business Administration. His father Pankaj Thakur is a Farmer.
Singing career[edit]
Deepak is known for singing in Bollywood films such as Anurag Kashyap's Gangs of Wasseypur, Mukkabaaz.[dubious ] Sneha Khanwalkar noticed him in 2014 and he began his career as a singer at the age of 14 in 2012, when he recorded the popular track "Humni ke Chhodi ke" Gangs of Wasseypur - Part 1 and "Moora-Morning" for Gangs of Wasseypur - Part 2.[3]

Television[edit]
In 2018, Deepak participated in Bigg Boss Season 12 as a commoner contestant[6] with fellow contestant Urvashi Vani.[7] Thakur became the only commoner finalist and second runner up. Deepak chose to opt out of the show by accepting part of prize money of INR 20 lakh and leaving the house voluntarily.[8] Later, Thakur cited his family's financial condition as a reason for his decision to leave the house.[9]
