Deepti Jal Singh (born February 26, 1999) is an Indian actress, model and advocate. She began her career appearing as the first Indian Face for Nescafé - South Africa (2016) and later gaining prominence for her role as Seema in the Netflix Tv series, The Indian Detective (2017). [1]
Early life[edit]
Singh was born in South Africa. Her parents are of North Indian decent, Punjabi Hindus, both business-people and has a younger brother. She attended Montessori pre-school and private schools prior to being home-schooled from 2009 through various institutions until her graduation. She studied via the University of Cambridge (CIE) - as well as an American Institute shortly after completing her Cambridge education. After Singh graduated, she attended a private college where she studied Business and Law.
Career[edit]
In 2016, Singh was cast as the first Indian female for Nescafé - South Africa: Good Morning World, International Coffee Day.
In 2017, Singh was cast In a new CTV original series entitled The Indian Detective as Seema. The show is on Netflix and is a Canadian/Bollywood mix, directed by Sandy Johnson, produced by Frank Spotnitz along with actors: Russell Peters, William Shatner and Anupam Kher. The show premiered on November 23, 2017 on CTV and on December 19, 2017 on Netflix. The pilot episode gained 1.6 million views making it the highest debut in Canada. At the 7th Canadian Screen Awards in 2019, the series won the Golden Screen Award as the highest-rated Canadian television program of 2018.[2]
