Delhi Legislative Assembly election, 2014
A Delhi Legislative Assembly election, 2014 may be held to elect members to the Legislative Assembly of Delhi.
On 14 February 2014, the Chief Minister of Delhi Arvind Kejriwal sent a letter to the current President of India Pranab Mukherjee asking that the Delhi Legislative Assembly elected in 2013 be dissolved.[1] Kejriwal resigned from the position of Chief Minister of Delhi on the same day.[2]
On 16 February 2014, Delhi was placed under President's Rule.[3]
On 21 February 2014, the Supreme Court of India indicated that it will hear an application for the Delhi Legislative Assembly elected in 2013 to be dissolved and a new election held.[4]
It may be held in single phases in year 2014 to constitute the 7th Assembly in Delhi.[citation needed]
