Delpero Freight, also known as Delpero or DF, is a Virtual Trucking Company[1] for the popular simulation games American Truck Simulator & Euro Truck Simulator 2. The Virtual Trucking Company, or VTC for short, was founded in July 2020 by Richard Nicholson (CEO), Zillent Firenze (COO) and Luka Pavičić (CTO).
Delpero Freight is run by a varied team of people; Leadership, Board of Directors & Staff. These people help represent Delpero Freight in day-to-day activities.[2]
The Virtual Trucking Company has created a real-world makeshift company for enthusiasts of SCS Software's truck simulator games to enhance the simulation aspect. Anyone can apply to become a driver with Delpero; once an application has been sent, Delpero Freight's Admissions Department reviews the application.
Delpero Freight hosts weekly convoys on the Multiplayer Modification, TruckersMP. This allows drivers to unite in official convoys, as well as the chance to communicate with upper staff members.
The VTC utilises social media as an outlet of public relations.
History
On the 14th July, 2020 Delpero sourced Luka Pavičić as their Chief Technology Officer.[3] Luka is a full-stack developer, who specialises in Ruby/Rails and Javascript. Luka manages Delpero's development team, which consists of two full-stack developers and three front-end developers.[4]
On the 20th July, 2020 Zillent Firenze joined Delpero as their Chief Operating Officer. Zillent assists the Chief Executive Officer with day-to-day running of the Virtual Trucking Company. Zillent is in charge of designing and implementing business operations, establishing policies that promote Delpero's culture and vision and overseeing operations of the company.
In July 2020, Delpero initiated development on their Driver's Core, the software in which allows drivers to log deliveries they make in-game, view company-wide statistics & manage their online profile. Delpero Freight has established a fundamental staff team to assist with department operations.
Delpero has a complex and stable staff structure; as seen on TruckersMP, the news article states "Due to the nature of the mass of this Virtual Trucking Company, a strong and capable leadership team is required in order for Delpero to further progress." & "This article aims to explain the management in Delpero Freight and showcase a first look at what each person carries out, on a day-to-day basis."[5]
As a forward-focussing Virtual Trucking Company, Delpero Freight is obliged to have a set of requirements an applicant must have before applying to the VTC. TruckersMP has set out these guidelines for Delpero Freight on their website, TruckersMP. TruckersMP stated, "An applicant must own an official version of either ATS or ETS2, they mustn't be in any other Virtual Trucking Company, they must be at least 16 years old in order to apply to Delpero Freight. Finally, they must speak English".[6]
Resources
Having initiated development in July 2020, Delpero Freight was created as a standalone Virtual Trucking Company for the truck sim and TruckersMP enthusiasts.[7] Using independent and advanced technology, Delpero drivers have the tools to maintain their realistic experience. In order to source developers, Delpero Freight uses Donate:Code, a service that connects developers, who are looking to expand their portfolio, to communities in need.[8]
Delpero Freight makes use of Discord, a proprietary freeware VoIP application which enables individuals to create communities ranging from gamers to education and businesses. Delpero uses Discord for their closed community, as well as team communications.[9]
Additionally, Delpero Freight supports community radio stations that are dedicated towards the simulation community; such as TruckersFM[10] & Simulator Radio [11]. These are two stations Delpero supports online, as well as in-game.
Delpero Freight relies on TruckersMP in order to hold events and convoys on a weekly basis, meaning Delpero hold their own page on TruckersMP's platform. This allows for non-Delpero members to see what's happening & to apply directly on this dedicated page.[12] TruckersMP have stated "A VTC is a Virtual Trucking Company and is the best way to fit into the community. VTCs are groups of people who drive together here on TruckersMP! Within VTCs, you can participate in events together."
An outside source, sharing their interest in Delpero Freight, wrote "I see a new VTC, Nice Livery and Logo. Very Cool."[13] Another instance of this is on YouTube, "Delpero Freight is a Virtual Trucking Company for American Truck Simulator & Euro Truck Simulator 2."[14]
Driver's Core
Delpero Freight has developed a standalone, independent and advanced piece of software which tracks driver's logs and company statistics. This is used to rank drivers and enables the system to give a makeshift payslip every month, depending on how many deliveries that driver makes in that specific month. Drivers of DF can use this to buy truck skins to use in-game, invest in the company and more. This software additionally allows Human Resources to initiate penalties for actions by drivers, as well as allowing Admissions Associates to process applications into the company & deal with the onboard process.
Drivers can view weekly events on the Driver's Core, which are set to take place in TruckersMP[15] that specific week.
