Its was founded in 1985 at The College of Staten Island in New York City as a coed local Greek letter organization that supported the study of civics. After going inactive in 1991, it was re-established in 1995 as a traditional fraternity and established fourteen chapters in the United States.

History

Richard Pelestri and Sal Leone founded Delta Omega Epsilon at the College of Staten Island on April 15, 1985.[1][2][3] It was established as a co-ed "farority".[3] Its purpose was to spread knowledge of civics and its various professions to enhance its local communities. The inaugural class of the Alpha chapter consisted of 25 members.[2] However, the fraternity went defunct in 1991.[3]

Delta Omega Epsilon was reestablished in 1994 as a fraternity.[3] A second chapter, Beta, was established at State University of New York at Delhi on September 7, 1995. This was followed by Gamma at the State University of New York at Oneonta on September 8, 1996.
