Years of Youth

Born in Istanbul in 1977, Demet Cengiz started her childhood dream of journalism and writing at an early age. He spent his childhood years in Istanbul.

Demet Cengiz studied Journalism at Marmara University, Faculty of Communication. After graduating from this department in 1999, he studied "British Journalism Studies" in London Westminster University in 2001. He started his career as an intern at Yeni Günaydın newspaper when he was a 19-year-old university student.

Her Career

Demet Cengiz started her journalism career in 1996 as a young reporter for Yeni Günaydın newspaper. In 1997, he switched to Global newspaper and stepped into journalism in the business world. The following year, he worked as a reporter for BusinessWeek magazine and interviewed important people from the business world.

Demet Cengiz, who started to work in Hürriyet newspaper[2], known as the flagship of the Turkish press in 2002, wrote articles about the business world, made interviews and attracted attention with his series of articles on life. He received great acclaim with his article series named "Street Views from the Economic Crisis" and "Impressions of the Crisis from the Slums" which were published consecutively in 2009. He wrote articles on economics and made interviews for Hürriyet newspaper on weekends. an interview with leading business people of Turkey and he followed with interest the world. In 2011, he was the editor-in-chief of the weekly newspaper supplement Hürriyet newspaper, which was published in four different languages ​​as Turkish, English, Russian and Arabic within the scope of Istanbul ShoppingFest[3]

At the end of 2014, he resigned from Hürriyet newspaper and transferred to Sözcü newspaper. He also made interviews with important names from the business world (Demet Cengiz - A Conversation with the Boss) in the newspaper Sözcü. He wrote columns on many topics from women to children, from the environment to animal rights.

Continuing to make interviews and write articles for many newspapers, magazines and internet bulletins, Demet Cengiz penned the article series “On the Edge of Life” for Hürriyet newspaper and her personal website[4]

Her Books

His book "The Boss Naked"[5], which extracts the DNA of the bosses, was met with interest (2013). It became one of the best selling books in its field. His second book, “Orange Writings”[6] (2014)[7], which consists of essays on life, made a tremendous impact. His book “Patronca”[8] (2016), in which he compiled ear-to-ear suggestions from bosses, the secrets of success, the effect of regret and luck, is among the best-selling books in its category. The author's first novel, which was postponed due to the Covid-19 outbreak, is eagerly awaited.
