Denise Salcedo (born May 18, 1992) is an American television personality, YouTube content creator and live event emcee/ring announcer based out of Los Angeles, California..[1] She has worked as an Entertainment correspondent for several media outlets including: What's_Trending, J-14 (magazine), Mingle Media TV Network, The Trendy [1], TBS (American TV channel), 2018 iHeartRadio Music Awards and others. On September 30, 2020, she became the first woman to host her own podcast on Figure Four Wrestling Online [2] / Wrestling Observer Newsletter with her show Speak Now Pro Wrestling.

Currently she can be seen as an on-air personality for Figure Four Weekly Online/ Wrestling Observer Newsletter, Fightful, Wrestle Talk TV, Sportskeeda and Pro Wrestling Sheet. Denise is also known for her previous work as co-host on Sean Waltman#Podcasting podcast, X-Pac 1,2,3,60 [3]. In 2018, Denise launched her own YouTube channel, Instinct Culture by Denise Salcedo [4] where she hosts and produces her own content focusing on pop culture and pro wrestling.

Biography[edit]

1992- 2014 Early life[edit]

Denise was born on May 18, 1992 in Downey, California and is of Mexican descent[2]. She was raised by a single mother and her grandparents. After graduating from Bell Gardens High School she went on to pursue a career in theater at California State University, Fullerton but later decided she wanted to switch majors[3]. She graduated with a Bachelor’s degree in Communications with an emphasis on Broadcast Journalism[4].

During her time in college, she worked as a production assistant at KOCE-TV and Jewish Life Television and also worked as a General Assignment Reporter for Crown City News; while also working as a sales associate in retail.

Career[edit]

2015- 2017 Early career in Entertainment Media[edit]

After college, Denise began her career working as an Entertainment Correspondent for Mingle Media TV Network's Red Carpet Report TV, where she began her hosting career as a red carpet reporter covering multiple Film, TV, and music related events throughout the Los Angeles area.

This then led her to continue working as a Digital Host and Producer for various media outlets including top teen magazine J-14 (magazine), What's Trending, Valnet Media’s 1.2 million subscriber channel The Trendy, The New Music Buzz and others.

She interviewed celebrities such as Mandy Moore, Blake Shelton, Christina Aguilera, Troian Bellasario, Bebe Rexha, Courteney Cox, Colbie Caillat, Sofia Carson, Daniel Cormier, Brittany Snow, Eva Longoria, and others.

During this time she also worked as the lead anchor for MCB Network, and became popular on the app TikTok amassing over one-hundred thousand followers, launched a travel blog titled ‘Travel with Denise’ and began hosting car commercials.

In January 2017, she was the official live streaming host representing Musical.ly and Pepsi at the Sundance Film Festival in Park City, Utah.

In April 2017, Denise Salcedo was 1 of 15 people chosen for a special NBC Host Workshop in New York City. Over 350 people submitted applications[5]

In June 2017, Denise joined WWE’s Hall of Famer Sean Waltman’s podcast X-Pac 12360, where she interviewed several top talents in the wrestling industry including Stone Cold Steve Austin, Rey Mysterio, Kane (wrestler), Chris Jericho, Kenny Omega, Cody Rhodes, Tony Khan and dozens more.

On July 13 2017 she landed her third commercial role, this time with Spectrum Networks.

And at just 25 years old, Denise signed her first contract in wrestling. In December 2017 she became the official ring announcer for Aro Lucha, a lucha libre promotion based in the United States[6].

2018- 2020 The Start of Instinct Culture, Emceeing and Podcasting[edit]

On March 11, 2018, Denise was TBS (American TV channel)’s official social media correspondent for the 2018 iHeartRadio Music Awards.

In March 2018 Denise also launched her YouTube channel, Instinct Culture by Denise Salcedo. A pop culture focused channel that garnered over ten thousand subscribers in under a year and went on to surpass thirty thousand subscribers and over 4.5 million views in under three years. Through her YouTube channel she has covered several Film/TV premieres and Bellator MMA, WWE, Impact Wrestling, Ring of Honor, New Japan Pro-Wrestling and All Elite Wrestling.

On November 6, 2018, pop icon and global superstar Taylor Swift liked and shared Denise’s photo on her Instagram story.

In April 2019, Denise covered WrestleMania 35 for her YouTube channel in New York City.

On October 4 2019, Denise covered the WWE FOX blue carpet celebrating the twenty year anniversary of Smackdown and their move to Fox. Her interviews from this event landed her, her first 1 million viewed video on YouTube[7].

On October 6, 2019, Denise made her WWE Digital debut as a guest host on the Hell in a Cell (2019) watchalong on the WWE Network[8].

On September 12 2019, she joined Fightful Pro Wrestling as an on-air personality.

On August 9, 2020, she was featured on an exclusive video piece about Taylor Swift on Spectrum News 1[9].

During this time Denise also landed several emcee and ring announcer roles with multiple companies including: Disney, Amazon Treasure Truck, Target Corporation, Xbox, 2K Foundations, LOL Surprise, Masked Republic and others.

She was also the official ring announcer for Empire Wrestling Federation and Suburban Fight.

Denise’s work in wrestling media has been featured on leading sports websites including Bleacher Report, CBS Sports, ComicBook.com and many others.

On August 13, 2020, Denise joined Wrestle Talk TV as a co-host for their weekly shows.

On September 22, 2020, Denise joined Sportskeeda as a weekly co-host.

On September 30, 2020, Denise became the first-ever female on-camera personality to work for Figure Four Weekly/ Wrestling Observer Newsletter, when she launched her weekly show, “Speak Now Pro Wrestling.”

On December 2020, she was included on Mandatory (company)’s yearly feature “Best For The Business 2020: Pro Wrestling’s Most Influential People, Promotions and Brands”[10]

Denise is known to be a huge Taylor Swift fan, and can be seen discussing her fandom on several YouTube videos. She is also very into adventure and traveling, in her travel blog, Travel with Denise she documented many of her trips to places such as: Italy, Costa Rica, Ireland, England, France, Mexico, and Spain.

She is a life-long pro wrestling fan, she has stated that her uncle got her into the sport when she was around 8 years old.

Denise is the oldest out of 15 grandchildren. She also has one younger sister, and three younger brothers, two of which are identical twins. She is also a godmother to her cousin.

Relationships[edit]

Denise got engaged on April 8, 2019 to her longtime boyfriend of thirteen years. She is set to be married in July 2021.
