In 2019, she produced her debut EP All My Sweetest Dreams which was funded by her fans through a Kickstarter campaign.[2] Shortly after the release of her EP, Emmaline opened at a sold-out show for Chaka Khan at the New Jersey Performing Arts Center.[3]

She received her Bachelors of Arts in Jazz Studies from the University of Cincinnati - Conservatory of Music.

Early life and career beginnings[edit]

Emmaline grew up in Anderson, Indiana and was born into a family of musicians. Her father, Russ Campbell, is an award winning producer and jazz pianist.[4] Julie Campbell, Emmaline's mother, was a singer. The two parents exposed Emmaline to music when she was a child educating her in violin by the age of 4 years old.[5] Russ recognized Emmaline's talent and mind for "music's connection to emotion".[6] The family performed together and statewide as the Campbell Jazz Continuum in which Emmaline would perform in as a violinist and vocalist. In 2018, The Campbell Jazz Continuum was the guest artist for the Anderson Symphony Orchestra opening their 51st season.[7][8] Emmaline continued her musical education at the University of Cincinnati - Conservatory of Music in Violin performance. However, she graduated from the schools Jazz program to pursue a career as a jazz singer.

Music Career[edit]

During her years in College, Emmaline had begun her music career by publishing her own singles and EPs, being featured on other artists tracks, making appearances and going on tour. She performed with the Cincinnati Symphony orchestra, lending her vocals in "It Don't Mean a Thing if it Ain't Got That Swing."

Guitar Center contracted the young artist in 2017 to do a Christmas promotional video. Filmed in the guitar studio at a Guitar Center location, the video featured Emmaline and guitarist, Ryan Mondak, performing "Have Yourself a Merry Little Christmas". The video was posted on the company's twitter account Christmas morning. In 2018, the attention of Emmaline's career was elevated her performance of the song "Domino" with Scott Bradlee's Postmodern Jukebox received over one million views.

During her time in Cincinnati, she met Funk musician and producer Bootsy Collins who invited Emmaline to collaborate on his rendition of hit Halloween song, "Monster Mash". In 2019, Emmaline went on tour during a college break to promote her recently released EP All My Sweetest Dreams.[9] During this tour, she opened for a sold-out audience at a Chaka Khan concert in New Jersey.[10]

Emmaline released her first single, "Shy(Demo)", on Spotify in 2018. She released a cover of hit Christmas song "Winter Wonderland" on November 27, 2020.[11]

All My Sweetest Dreams (2019)[edit]

With plans to record her debut EP All My Sweetest Dreams, private funding had fell through. She turned to Kickstarter in January of 2019 asking fans and the like to help fund the recording of her own EP. According to her campaign page on Kickstarter, by late March she had met her funding goals with a total of $41,695. The recordings took place in the Brooklyn studio, Strange Weather Studios. She had only two days to record all six tracks that would be featured on the EP.

"Effortless" was initially "trashed by the artist before being finished" and eventually placed as its first song.[5] The song was later rereleased as a single with an accompanying music video which was released in November of 2019. Emmaline produced All My Sweetest Dreams with a team of New York producers. Notable team members included Jason Olaine who won a Grammy in 2002 for Directions in Music, Best Jazz Instrumental Album, Individual or Group.[12] The EP featured a string quartet which Emmaline joined as first violin.[13] All My Sweetest Dreams was released in August of 2019.
