Chidera John Allison (born 5 may 1994), known professionally as Deraa or Superstar Deraa, is a Nigerian songwriter and singer.[2] He is believed to be a singer with a hunch for creating Afro soul fused sounds or melodies. Deraa is aesthetically admired for his choice of words and passion for soul traveling sounds. He began creating music at the age of 11 in Dominion city church and released his first debut single in 2012(otito), a gospel song cover that made strong impact in his state of origin Imo state, Nigeria. In 2015, Deraa signed a music deal with Ebere Anyanwu co owner of Sanguine Entertainment. He later advanced to other musical deals & activities with other establishments that exposed him to numerous musical projects and song writing.[3]

Life and music career[edit]

1994-2022

Chidera John Allison on 05 May 1994, in Owerri, Imo. He grew up in an christian household with four male siblings with A male & 5 female step siblings. His Father is business entrepreneur who later became a full time clergy, His mother was an associate professor at federal university of technology owerri before she passed away in 2018. Deraa attended Government secondary school owerri. He grew up listening to Brenda Fasie, James Brown, Gozie Okeke & Hillsong United In a private interview with, he said "his father has two wives". In another interview, Deraa said he started a movement as a teen in the church that harnessed teenagers in music & entertainment. They performed in renowned events in their localities & mobilized audience in hundreds in different cities under Gfactor owned by David Odeta for society transformation events. Deraa went by the stage name Chidera/Naira until 2012. He later met Ebere Anyanwu who played a major role in advancing his musical career professionally.

Music journey

In September 2012, he released his debut single otito. The song was accepted by quite an audience in his state of origin, this facilitated so many local church stage performances. In 2016, Deraa signed with an independent capitalist under Orlean invest Ebere anyanwu, the musical alignment lasted fostered his musical adventure that made him relocate to Lagos. Deraa performed in many renounce social gatherings that caught the attention of Curtis music COE HON.Curtis.Jr Amaeshi who gave him a 1 year contract performance deal[4]. Deraa moved to working with MMBM[5] where he released his first debut single that got major airplays on music media channels in Nigeria titled Bolanla[6], Deraa signed with NDM[7] a Uk based music establishment during the 2020 lock down after his "black life matter" video impressed them, He released an extended playlist with them that future 5 tracks Including his recognizable song Pomile[8], Deraa grow more in song writing after the lock down especially for colleague, commercial adverts and soul lifting events until 2022 when he signed for Indonesia /Nigerian based record label "small face records "[9]. He released in July 2022 an extended playlist "temple boy" that future 3 tracks in it. The project also served as a warm up musical adventure for his first debut album released in 11-11-2022 "Deraa's Diary"[10] also known as Memory regression Melodies" featuring 11 tracks executive produced by Andy Bravo. The musical body of work gained its organic 50k listeners in its first month of release.[11]
