Imo (imo), is a cross-platform instant messaging and Voice over IP service owned by YY inc. It allows users to send text messages and voice messages, make voice and video calls, and share status, similar to WeChat Moments. [1][2]. Imo.im was founded by Georges Harik, one of Google's earliest employees, and co-founded by his brother Ralph in 2007. [3][4][5]. Imo was acquired by the Singapore-based video social networking company Bigo (Bigo was later acquired by YY inc in March 2019).[6]. In the first quarter of 2019, YY inc (NASDAQ: YY) reported that IMO had more than 210 million monthly active users worldwide. [7] [8]
