Desi Liberals
Q: Who are Desi Liberals? A: Desi Liberals are people who use the guise of modern secular values (mostly liberalism and humanism, but there are others too) to attack Islam every time they get a chance. Many of them usually tend to criticize Islam while usually portraying other religions/ideologies in a better light. For example, people who say that we should kill all religious terrorists (like the Taliban, SSP, etc.) through operations, drones, and carpet bombings, but when it comes to secular terrorists like the BLA, BRA, JSQM, etc., they are all supporting dialogue, negotiation, and even appeasement. Or when it is Eid, these people say things like "Mulk mein bomb blasts ho rahe hain aur mullah ko Eid manane se fursat nahin," but when it's Holi, Diwali, or Christmas, they make posts like "Merry Christmas to everyone, may this day fill your life with happiness and joy." Examples of such Desi Liberals are people like Beena Sarwar, Marvi Sirmed, Hamid Mir, Asma Jahangir, and their followers. To some extent, Pervez Hoodbhoy and Hassan Nisar also fall into this category. On Facebook, you can usually see them and their followers run pages like Laal, Roshni, Rants of Pakistani citizens, etc. [1]
