This short collection of work by Will Self was published as part of the Penguin Books 70th birthday celebration. The company printed 70 slimline editions with work by authors previously published by Penguin or one of its imprints. Other authors included Vladimir Nabokov, PD James, Roald Dahl, George Orwell and John Kenneth Galbraith.[1]
The two stories in this collection were later published in the collection Tough, Tough Toys for Tough, Tough Boys.

Bill Bywater recounts the faults of the automobile, all the while failing to live his love life to the full.
"A Story for Europe"
A two year old child begins to display a curious style of gibberish. Meanwhile Herr Doktor Zweijerig, a German businessman, begins to collapse mentally.
