With impressive breakdance moves and jangly isolations, Destiny McCottrell was a standout as a Michael Jackson doll[2]In 2013, Destiny McCottrell honed her breakdancing skills at a teen center in Brockton formed the hip-hop duo Dark Matter.[3] They went on to showcase their breakdancing routines across the eastern US at various events before taking the stage to showcase their musical and production talents.

Music[edit]

Dark Matter released their only LP The Beast & The Room on June 10, 2018. To help promote their LP, Dark Matter performed on the 2018 Warped Tour Transform Stage. Destiny said of the album "The title The Beast & The Room is a metaphor: The Room is a place people are only supposed to experience for a moment (sadness, pain, etc.), but The Beasts (rage, trauma, sorrow, illness) keeps people trapped within those feelings.”[4]

Destiny McCottrell decided to pursue a solo career starting in 2018. She has released singles "Stronger Than U Think" (2019), "Back Down" (2019), "Ready to Love" (2019), "The Call" featuring SeeFour (2020), "Before I Forget" (2020), and "Everyone Else" (2020). Destiny McCottrell's solo career evolved, and she changed genres and her name in 2022. Destiny McCottrell's new artist name "deSirène", a play on he french phrase for the mythological creature "siren", was made to fit her EDM sound. She has released a two part EP "The Lure" with popular songs such as "So High" featuring Ballad (2022), "That Love" (2023), "S.A.D." (2023), and "SPLIT" (2023). Destiny said of the new name “It’s about extreme duality — danceable songs with haunting harmonies. Love songs with lyrics that speak on healthy love instead of surface longing. Gentle yet exciting and sometimes scary. That’s what a siren is. That’s what a divine feminine and a balanced woman is.”[5]
