Deveo is a web-based software development and collaboration platform to host and manage source code.[3] It offers distributed version control and source code management functions of Git and Mercurial, and server-based version control and source code management functions of Apache Subversion (SVN).[4]
In contrast to the traditional command-line interface of Git, Mercurial, and Subversion, Deveo is operated through a web-based graphical user interface. It also offers Web Distributed Authoring and Versioning (WebDAV) functions, as well as proprietary features such as documentation, code reviews and in-app commenting, access management, and a Git powered wiki.[5] It is similar to GitHub, which primarily uses Git, and Bitbucket, which supports Git and Mercurial.
Licensing and user access
Deveo can be deployed on-premises, or as a cloud-based service,[6] and is a multitenant system, with a single instance serving registered users on a company by company basis, with user activity contained within each company.[7] Deveo offers multiple pricing options based on the number of registered users per instance: c.$21 (€19) a month for every 10 users, c.$165 (€149) a month for every 50 users, and a custom pricing structure for over 500 users.[8]
Company history
Deveo began development in 2012 [9] as part of software company Eficode, within the Tech Consulting Group. On 31 January 2014, Deveo Oy was officially registered as a limited company in Finland.[10] In 2016, Deveo was a finalist in the Blue Arrow awards,[11] and was shortlisted in Red Herring Europe: Top 100.[12]
