Production
Development
Initially planned as a single film, the makers later decided to make the film a two-part release.[5] Both the parts were shot together concurrently as a single project.[6] The original plan was to release one long film, but the large amount of footage and story complexity led the makers to split it into two parts during post-production process.[7][8]
Casting
Mukesh Chhabra was the casting director.[9] Singh, Dutt, Madhavan, Rampal, Sara Arjun, Rakesh Bedi and others will reprise their roles from the previous part.[10] Khanna's character would also appear in some flashback sequences.[11] Rumours were circulated that Vicky Kaushal's character Major Vihaan Shergill from Uri: The Surgical Strike (2019) would return in the film.[12] However, later these rumours turned false.[13]
Filming
The first part was shot back-to-back alongside the second one as a single integrated film.[14] Principal photography began in July 2024 in Bangkok.[15][16] The second schedule commenced in November 2024 at the Golden Temple, Amritsar.[17] In February 2025, filming took place in Filmistan, Mumbai.[18] A schedule took place in Madh Island which was wrapped by late April 2025.[19] In May 2025, some action sequences were filmed at the Dombvili-Mankoli bridge.[20] In July 2025, a dance number was shot at the Golden Tobacco Factory in Vile Parle.[21] Several scenes set in Pakistan were re-created in Thailand.[22] Additional filming also took place in Khera village in Ludhiana, where the production recreated Pakistan-set sequences.[23][24] In August 2025, filming moved to Ladakh, however it was halted after more than one hundred crew members were hospitalised due to food poisoning.[25] In September 2025, some scenes were shot in The Lawrence School, Sanawar in Himachal Pradesh.[26] Singh wrapped his portions in October 2025.[27] Filming was also simultaneously wrapped in the same month.[28] After the success of first part, it was widely reported that Khanna would return on the sets for a short one-week shoot of the additional scenes.[29] Later these reports turned false as no additional shoot took place.[30] In January 2026, it was reported that a three day patch-work shoot was held in Golden Tobacco Factory where the character arc of Arjun Rampal was shot.[31][32] However, this rumour also turned false.[33]
Music
The film's soundtrack and film score will again be composed by Shashwat Sachdev after the first part.[34]
Marketing
The film's glimpse was shown in the post-credits scene of the first part along with the release date.[35] It was widely reported that the film's teaser would be attached to the prints of Border 2 for theatrical screenings.[36][37] However, this did not happened and later Dhar confirmed that teaser would release in the coming week.[38]
Release
Theatrical
Dhurandhar's post-credits scene showcased the continuation of the story with a cliffhanger. The second part was announced to theatrically release on 19 March 2026, thus coinciding with Eid al-Fitr, Gudi Padwa and Ugadi.[39][40] Apart from the original Hindi language, it will also release in dubbed versions of Telugu, Tamil, Malayalam and Kannada languages.[41][42]
Home media
The digital streaming rights for both parts were acquired by Netflix for ₹130–285 crore.[43]
