Diary of a Wimpy Kid is a 2024 British comedy film directed by Toby Clarke and produced by his company Blockbuster Video Kid 2406 Productions. It is based on Jeff Kinney’s 2007 book of the same name and the 2010 Live-Action and Animated film of the same name. The film stars Charlie Schlatter and Matt Jones. Danny Cooksey, Kari Wahlgren, Brian Stepanek, and Maria Bamford also have prominent roles. It is the first instalment in the Diary of a Wimpy Kid trilogy, and was followed by two sequels: Diary of a Wimpy Kid: Brad Rules (2025) and Diary of a Wimpy Kid: Dog Days (2026). The film was released on March 19, 2024, to celebrate the film’s 14th anniversary.

Matt Jones as Gunther Magnuson, Kick’s childish best friend.

Kari Wahlgren as Honey Buttowski, Kick’s mother.

Maria Bamford as “Wacky” Jackie Wackerman, a seventh-grader at Kick’s school who is a reporter for the school paper.

Vincent Martella as Phineas Flynn, a weird classmate of Kick’s.

Francesca Marie Smith as Helga G. Pataki, Kick’s arch-enemy.

Chance Hurstfield as Dorg Van Dango, a friend of Kick’s.

Henry Winkler as Principal Henry, the Vice Principal who appears on the intercom or TV giving news.

Ben Giroux as Nate Wright, Kick’s classmate who plays a shrub in the school production of The Wizard of Oz.

Alex Ferris as T.D. Kennelly, Gunther’s substitute best friend during his fight with Kick.

Andrew McNee as Coach Sternbeck, Kick’s gym teacher. McNee reprises the role of the coach from the original 2010 film and it’s sequels.

Kathleen Barr as Anna Twombly, Kick’s acting teacher.

Clancy Brown as Magnus Magnuson, Gunther’s father who dislikes Kick.

April Winchell as Helga Magnuson, Gunther’s mother.

Nancy Cartwright as Kearney Zzyzwicz and Nelson Muntz, two of four teenagers who threw water at Kick and Gunther.

Tress MacNeille as Jimbo Jones and Dolph Starbeam, another two of four teenagers who threw water at Kick and Gunther.

Scott McCord as McGee, Kick’s classmate who is infamous for starting the Cheese Touch.

Emma Tate as Perfect Peter, a British exchange student who took the Cheese Touch with him back to his homeland of Britain, UK.

Oliver Nelson as David, one of Kick’s classmates who is the popular kid at school. He is said to have a “cute butt”.

Bella Ramsey and Ameerah Falzon-Ojo as Hilda and Frida, two girls who adore Gunther.

Daniel DiVenere as Chandler McCann, a bully who teased about Gunther asking Kick if he wants to come over after school and play.

Andre Robinson as Clyde McBride, the school treasurer and a student who played a tree in the school play.

Asher Bishop as Lincoln Loud, another student who played a tree in the school play.
