Diccon Bewes
Diccon James Bewes (1967 – 11 March 2025) was a British-Swiss author who wrote several books about the culture, society, and history of his adopted home of Switzerland.
He was born at St Richard's Hospital in Chichester[1] in 1967 and grew up in Petersfield, Hampshire.[2] He attended Churcher's College before pursuing a degree in International Relations at the London School of Economics. After working in publishing in London, in 2005 he relocated to Bern to manage an English-language bookshop, and published his first book, Swiss Watching, five years later. In 2020, he became a Swiss citizen. He died of cancer on 11 March 2025, aged 57.[3]
His publications included: Swiss Watching (2010); Swisscellany: Facts & Figures About Switzerland (2012); How to be Swiss: Instruction Manual (2016); Slow Train to Switzerland (2016); Around Switzerland in 80 Maps (2017); False Friends: 51 Ways to be Misunderstood (with Michael Meister) (2022).[4]
