Dada Dolapo, known professionally as Didi Sweet Muzik, is a Nigerian singer and songwriter. He signed a record deal with independent record label Sweet Muzik in 2016.[1][2][3] He released his debut single Leave Am, produced by GospelOnDeBeatz, that same year.
Life and career
Born in Ebute-Metta area of Lagos, Nigeria, Didi Sweet Muzik is a graduate of Olabisi Onabanjo University.[4][5][6] In 2016, he signed a recording contract with Sweet Muzik record label.[7][8] He cited Fela Anikulapo-Kuti as a key musical inspiration leading to his passion for music.[9][10]
In 2018, he collaborated with Nigerian pop artiste Reekado Banks and producer GospelOnDeBeatz on the single "Give Me Love". An accompanying video directed by Clarence Peters was released shortly afterwards.
In June 2019, Didi released the Zlatan-assisted song "Craze" to a massive radio acclaim.
Philanthropy
During the recent global COVID-19 pandemic, Didi Sweet Muzik donated over 1000 face masks along with foodstuff to the poorest in his community.[11][12][13][14][15]
He is cited in an interview with Vanguard News as his reason for this act:
Since Nigeria's federal and state governments have acknowledged the devastating impact the COVID-19 is having on the livelihood and overall well-being of the citizenry, they need to go beyond lip service and deploy more resources, creativity, and transparency to ensure that the basic necessities of life if available for everyone and particularly within the reach of low income Nigerians.[16]
Didi has also lent his voice in the fight against violence against women and the increasing trend of rape.[17][18] He stated that it is not enough to sit down and point fingers because it is our duty to rise up and teach our young ones while they are still teachable.[19][20][21]
