Dingo Pictures

From EverybodyWiki Bios & Wiki

Dingo Pictures (legally registered as Dingo Productions Haas und Ickert Partnerschaft, Filmemacher,[1] literally "Dingo Productions, the Haas and Ickert Filmmaking Partnership", formerly known as Media Concept) is a low-budget German animation studio based in Friedrichsdorf, founded by Ludwig Ickert (born in 1946)[2] and Roswitha Haas (January 28, 1940 - December 8th 2015)[3] in 1992.

History[edit]

In the early 1990s, Ludwig Ickert (who became famous in the 1960s for The Rangers band that consisted of Ickert, Robert Wolf, Marek Lieberberg, Jürgen Kessner & Axel Schürmann) founded the Media Concept company together with Roswitha Haas, who later wrote various children's books.

In 1992, their (probably) first fully-animated feature (Griechische Sagen: Perseus) was released.

Films like Aladin and Die schönsten Geschichten vom Osterhasen were released later. Parts of the latter film now serve as a learning program.[4]

In addition to animated films, picture book films have also been released.

In 1996, the company was legally registered as Dingo Productions Haas und Ickert Partnerschaft, Filmemacher.[1]

In 2005 their last film (Die kleine Hexe Arischa) has been released.

Local or national relatives like Rainer Maria Ehrhardt or Georg Feils have been the voice actors for Dingo Pictures.

Many of the films from 1994 onwards were translated into English and other languages and published by Midas Interactive and Phoenix Games on PlayStation, PlayStation 2, Nintendo DS and Nintendo Wii until 2010.[5] There were also versions of some films for Philips CD-i and as radio plays on CDs and compact cassettes.

The original distributors for the films on VHS and music cassettes[6] were Best Buy Video and Jünger Verlag. Later, the company's films were distributed by various DVD companies, with Power Channel GmbH and Best Entertainment being two of the most common companies. DVDs and CDs were later sold in their own online shop.[7]

Since around 2015, Dingo Pictures has gained notoriety through the reviews of their films on YouTube.[8][9] An excerpt from a Dingo Pictures film is also the first video in the popular YouTube playlist called Important Videos.[10][11]

Some of their films are currently considered lost.[12]

In addition to Dingo Pictures, Ickert appears with his former bandmates in his home country. Haas wrote various children's books until her death in 2015. She was also involved in the Dinosaur (2000) movie.[13]
