Dos Santos was born in Porto in 1971. He graduated in Communication Design from the Escola Superior de Artes e Design (ESAD), Matosinhos, in 1994. Career
While still a student, dos Santos developed an interest in typography at a time when digital type design was still emerging in Portugal. In 1994 he founded DSType, an independent type foundry dedicated to the design and publication of digital typefaces.[5]
