Diya Mukherjee (born 17 May 1999) is an Indian female actor, known for her work in Bengali, Hindi television and Bengali movies. She has acted in several television serials, and her most well known work on television has been playing Sreetama, in the serial Mithai (Bengali TV series)[1]. Other memorable roles include Bindi in Seemarekha[2], Binodini Dasi in Prothoma Kadambini and Karunamoyee Rani Rashmoni, and a freedom fighter in Netaji (TV series). She has been working in Bengali television and cinema since she was 6 years old and has been part of many works since then. She has also acted in two series in the famous Hindi show Crime Patrol (TV series) on Sony Entertainment Television.
Early Life
Diya Mukherjee hails from Madhyamgram, West Bengal. She did her schooling from Aditya Academy (Secondary). She is currently studying Psychology honours from Uttarakhand Open University. She is the only child of her parents.
Career
Diya Mukherjee's acting debut was with Tatka Golpe atka mash on Aakash Aath as a child artist, in 2005 when she was 6 years old. Her first serial as lead was Bisorjon (2011) on ETV Bangla, now known as Colors Bangla. She has also played lead roles in serials like Sati (2013) on Zee Bangla, Tumi Ele Tai (2015-16)[3] on Colors Bangla and Nojor[4] (2019) on Star Jalsha.
Her most notable work has been the TV serial Mithai (Bengali TV series)[5], produced by Zee Bangla which premiered on 04 January 2021. She plays the character Sreetama, one of the most well written characters. Sreetama embodies today's woman, who believes in speaking her mind, protesting against anything wrong happening around her, yet remaining a soft and introverted girl. Sreetama has so much depth, complexities and pathos attached to it, making it easily one of her finest performances. Her other memorable roles have been Bindi in the Seemarekha serial (2017), where she played an innocent village girl. Sarbani Roy Choudhury in Netaji (TV series) was another such memorable work where she played the role of a freedom fighter.
She also played the historical character Binodini Dasi in both Prothoma Kadambini (2020) and Karunamoyee Rani Rashmoni (2022)[6] on Star Jalsha and Zee Bangla respectively.
Her debut film as a child artist was Josh (2010 film). She has also worked in films like Hangover (2010 film) and Cockpit (2017 film)[7]. Her Hindi debut has been Crime Patrol (TV series) on Sony Entertainment Television for two stories, Chunauti (2016) and Murder Case Kolkata (2017).
