DJ Sonny, is a Scottish turntablist/producer born in the city of Edinburgh, Scotland who uses samples and an MPC to create new life into old records with a musical, jazzy style of hip hop music.
History
When he was 14, he was introduced to turntables by his friend’s father, Seani B, a hip hop producer from the legendary crew Scotland Yard MC. In his teens, he grew and developed his turntable skills throughout countless clubs across Scotland. After a trip to Japan, Sonny decided to start making his own music. He first released Ancient Art Of Scratching, which gained him an underground fan base. From this, he did his first collaboration outside the UK with hip hop group Shadowstar Boxing Academy. A year after his first release, he met Nostal, Han CMC & Sliver tongue and formed the Edinburgh-based underground hip hop group Perfect Practice. He then created BurghRecords as the base for all future releases.
