Kwadwo Ampofo known worldwide as Dj Black is Ghanaian dj, a turntablist, a radio Dj, very creative, crowd puller , crowd motivator , a great Voice Over artist ,a good actor, a creative copywriter and a writer. He is an Authority and synonymous with good music in Ghana and Africa, offering quality entertainment in all dimensions that will leave a lasting impression forever. DJ Black hosts Events, Concerts, Album Launches, Tours, Clubs, Mixtapes, etc. and is the voice of the Youth in Ghana. DJ Black is the first and only Ghanaian judge to be chosen for the first ever Channel_O_Sprite_Emcee_Africa_tour. With a rich musical background and experience, DJ Black’s rich Sonorous voice and ability to move the crowd sets him apart from the rest. He can entertain all age groups and demographics.[1][2]

Biography[edit]

Early Life & Dj Career[edit]

Kwadwo Ampofo known professionally as Dj Black Toontoom started to DJ in 1993 in Ofori Panin Senior High School. He joined the elite DJ Crew, Prime Cut in 1995 alongside veteran DJS like Azigiza Jnr, DJ Magic Sam ,DJ Rab, DJ Kakra, DJ Kofi ,Da Woodeman, etc. In 1997 DJ Black started managing Dope Rhyme Studios in Nima cementing his clench on hip-hop and growing the new movement Hiplife working with early the Hiplifers like VVIP, Buk Bak, Obrafour, Reggie Rockstone. The same 1997 DJ Black joined Radio Univers giving birth to SPACE JAM which is still airing today. Dj Black mentored Djs like EDouble, Nii Ayi Tagoe, Dj Master J in the year 2000 after they joined KRUSH GROOVE. In the year 2001 DJ Black won the Rothman's West African DJ Championship and released the first Ghanaian mixtape, TOONTOOM MIX VOL 1 the following year. Quickly jumping on technology, he has released the Afrohop series of mixtapes, Ghana Club Bangerz series, etc. He has also hosted Coptic's Blackstarline mixtape with Lee Kasumba of South Africa and appeared on the 'y3 fr3me Ritchy Pitch' album.[3] DJ Black on Joy FM (Ghana) and Hitz FM in Accra, Ghana is something else on radio; the “Weekend Warmer” keeps a mature audience entertained on Fridays whilst the “OPEN HOUSE PARTY” on Saturdays keeps the Youth informed with current music and trends. And also The “MusikBox” on Hitz Fm which keeps the capital and beyond grooving from mid-morning to mid-day.[4][5][6] Mr Black has made appearances at Boomerang, DejaVu night club, Liberia, Moloko (now Hush),Johannesburg, Citizen Kofi, Uganda , USA, etc. DJ Black founded Blaqbone International together with partners Schwarz Bless'on Radio Cardiff and Nortse A. Amarteifio and has helped put artistes and DJS such as Dretonio, Philo, OkraTom, E-dBle, the blacksquad DJS, Ghana Djs. He has hosted and performed alongside Akon, Busta Rhymes, Wayne Wonder, Shaggy, Boyz II Men, Fabulous, Ludacris Concerts. On the Ghanaian scene, DJ Black is known for his flair, creativity, spontaneous moves and attention to detail. He is relevant to Ghanaian music.
