Do Sang Rok (Prof. Sang Rok Do, Korean name : 도상록) was a North Korean quantum physicist, known for “The Father of Nuclear Weapon Development of North Korea.” He made Basis of Theoretical Principles of Nuclear Weapon Operation. North Korea can observe nuclear fission reaction using particle accelerator at 1950s because of his theoretical basis. Do Sang Rok was so important scientist to North Korea that some criticisms about “North Korea would made nuclear weapon very difficult without Do Sang Rok.” is existed.
Biography[edit]
Do Sang Rok was born at Hamheung county, Hamgyeong province. He studied Physics at Tokyo Imperial University until 1932.
He announced His Thesis, “Quantum Mechanical Theory of Hydrogen gas” and “Quantum Mechanical Treatment of Helium Hydride molecules” at USA Physics Journal and Japanese Physics Journal during He was a Teacher of Songdo secondary school.
After Independence of Korea, He was Dean of Department of Physics in Seoul National University. He did Demo which is opposed to US army’s Reign. So He was quitted Dean and leaved out SNU.
But North Korea invited him He allows North Korean Suggestion, and leaved to North Korea at 1946. He was became a Dean of Mathematical Physics department in Kim Il Sung University at 1949.
