Don Kanonji
Don Kanonji (ドン 観音寺), real name Misao Kanonji, stage name Misaomaru Kanonji (観音寺 ミサオ丸 Kanonji Misaomaru) is a fictional character in the manga and anime series Bleach.
He is a popular spirit medium who has a television show that, at the time of his introduction, is watched by 25% of Japan's population. The method in which Don Kanonji used to rid ghosts, thinking he was sending spirits to heaven, actually quickly caused those spirits to become hollows. He found this out when he and Ichigo Kurosaki fought a hollow that appeared because of Don Kanonji during a television taping at Karakura Town. His special attack is "Golden Kanonball", a tiny ball of golden light that moves slowly and explodes with surprising power.
After the encounter, Don Kanonji became more aware of the supernatural forces he was dealing with. However, he still seems to think that he knows more about ghosts than Ichigo, whom Don Kanonji declares his disciple. He drops by Karakura Town on occasion to see how his "disciple" is doing, though Ichigo is never around.
He later started to lose his audience to other shows, and to combat this he formed the Karakura Rangers/Superheroes, which consists of the Kurosaki sisters and the children at the Urahara Shop. The show boosted his ratings enough, but he then had to reform the group as they fell again, and this time Kon was recruited as well.
The team goes off to eliminate hollows, much to the dismay of Zennosuke Kurumadani, Rukia Kuchiki's replacement as the shinigami watching over Karakura.[1]
Kanonji likes to cross his arms and laugh ('SPIRITS ARE ALWAYS WITH YOU! BWAHAHAHA!!'), an action mimicked by his fans. He also has the habit of placing English words or catch phrases such as 'boys and girls' and 'wonderful and great' in his normally Japanese speech.
As noted by Kisuke Urahara he has 'some power.'

- After graduate school, he went overseas to become a show model. It is unknown as to how or why he took on his current occupation.
- He likes to watch Kabuki plays, eat gorgonzola gnocchi, and he designs his own clothes.
- He tends to separate the top half from the bottom of Apollo chocolate when eating it.
- His speech pattern (Japanese with some strong English) is similar to Maximillion Pegasus from Yu-Gi-Oh!
- His tagline/favorite catchphrase is "SMELLS LIKE BAD SPIRITS!" (which he says in English).
